Bottle. Blackish beer with a strong light brown coloured head. The aroma is mildly roasted with some milky sweetness. The flavour is bitter and roasted with a good degree of maltiness and a fortified feel. Overall a nice roasted and bitter beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

500ml bottle from Saucy Pears, Worcester. Dark cola colour with no head. Aroma is very light almost nothing. The taste has roasted malt but is a touch watery.

Sampled on draught at the John Baird’s Yorkshire Beer Festival. A very dark brown with a closely-packed amber head. Not much aroma, but massive taste of vanilla and chocolate. Very nice if you like Cadbury’s Dairy Milk and crème brûlée. Quite malty and very creamy, the sweetness is offset by bitter hop tastes. Long, bitter finish, but with an aftertaste of chocolate. I think that most beer drinkers will find this beer too dominated by the vanilla and chocolate flavours. Quite pleasant though.

Cask Moo Bar Carlisle. Chocolate overload! Gorgeous dark chocolate taste, which coats the tongue and leaves a long, lingering flavour. Great dark ruby red cokour, light tan head, fine coffee aftertaste. Excellent porter.

Bottle from York Beer & Wine. An inky black beer that pours with no head. It has a strong milk chocolate and liquorice flavour, tart red fruit followed by coffee and vanilla on the finish.

intense burnt smell and taste, smooth, but thin maybe bit too thin. Intense malt in taste but also bitterness from hops is there.

Bottle from Suddaby’s, Malton. Pours black with a quickly fading tan. Plenty of flavour in this one with chocolate notes dominating. There’s a little coffee in there too. Nice.
