Very strong, great taste and flavor. This one will sneak up on you if you drink it too fast. Perfect for the holidays. I don’t think there is a better Winter Seasonal beer out there.

Aroma of malt, caramel, nuts, fruity notes, hints of spices, hops. Flavour is light sweet with a long bitter finish. Malty and hoppy winter ale, much more to my liking than those Belgian spicy sugar-bombs.

under-appreciated so far. Really nice NW winter warmer...had all the chewy malt characteristics of a good warmer with all the (complimentary) hops you could want in a beer from the pacific NW. Very nice.

Bottle from Joe’s. Dark amber with ring. Spicy woody leafy and citrus aroma with hints of fruit and caramel. Medium caramel fruity sweetness with assertive woody spicy earthy lingering bitterness with hints of lingering fruit. Medium full body. Lively carbo. Tasty if somewhat pedestrian.

Draught. Pours a rather hazy darker brown color with a smallish off white head on it. Nose is pretty hoppy with some grass and floral notes and just a hint of some caramel. Taste is moderately bitter with a slightly sweet finish, and just a hint of toffee.

Smell is burnt toffee and caramel, roasty nuts . Some rangy wild hops. Appearance is dark roasty brown with nice carbonation. taste is very nutty and very english, some peat like you get in a great scot like alesmiths wee heavy. Palate is very tidy and finishes with more nuttiness and that great hit of peat. over-all a very very good offering from a great brewery.

Bottle:   Moderately hopped winter ale.   A bit boring overall, some citrus peel, touch of pith, moderate hop bitterness, with a little malty background.   Not real big, and thankfully not one of those cloying winter versions of an English Strong Ale.   Not bad, but a bit pedestrian.   Clean at least, with a decent balance, just no real pizazz.
