355ml bottle from Beer Me Up Scotty, Shrewsbury Market Hall. The penultimate surprise bottle at the July Shrewsbury Bottle Share @ Chez Sophie. Pulled out of the fridge by me. Pours hazy gold. Pine aroma. Hoppy & fruity with a decent dose of orange resin bitterness. My memory is pretty hazy at this point, but I seem to remember it being a good example of an American IPA.

Nice golden but little bit hazy color. Head is medium and it didn’t last long. Aroma full of citrus, mango and lychee. Tastes good grapefruit and resin bitterness with hinch of sweetness from malts. Body between flat and medium, soft carbonated and dry/ semi-dry. Alcohol aftertaste stays for a white but it is really gramy beer.

Bottle shared at home. Dark golden with small white head. Grapefruit, quite some resin, lemon candy, caramel, light marihuana. Medium sweet and bitter, quite heavy oily notes mixed with refreshing citrus. Medium bodied with below average carbonation.

Towey1989 (607) - Stoke On Trent, Staffordshire, ENGLAND - JUL 9, 2015
Bottle at The Roebuck, Leek (Titanic) A clear deep golden colour with a fizzy white head. Aroma of orange, grapefruit, pine, caramel and grassy hops. Taste of orange, grapefruit, some spice, resin, subtle peach and slight caramel. Medium bodied and an oily texture. A lingering, citrus hop bitterness in the finish. A solid IPA, well balanced and well hopped. Good.

Bottle. Hop Hideout, Sheffield. Clear, dark gold. Thin, clingy, white head. Stewed fruit, oily hop aroma. Lots of orange. Taste is stewed hop bitter. Some astringency. Prickly carbonation. Finishes long, oily bitter. One dimensional.

jjsint (1398) - Ely, Cambridgeshire, ENGLAND - JUN 30, 2015
Bottle from Bacchanalia, consumed at home. Orange/copper, a bin thin-looking, translucent. Not too much head. Gentle wood and resin aroma. Taste starts quite mild, but the bittersweet-umami flavour comes to the fire near the finish. Long balanced bitter aftertaste. A well made and nicely subtle IPA.

bartlebier (2559) - Belchium im Biersgau, GERMANY - JUN 30, 2015
12oz bottle, no bb, courtesy of idiosynkrasie, danke. Pours like hay-yellow dandelion honey. Smells deliciously damp, like a lemon balm-soaked lemon biscuit powdered with citrus zest also some nettle soup and dandelion milk. Taste delicately hop-engineers all of that, West-Coast style, into subtle thin layers of lemon and lime cake, separated by refreshing sheets of resinous rind and pith, as well as pollen and blossom to quench any nascent exotic sweetness. Not a dispersive hop explosion like many IPAs with mass appeal, instead more of a well-directed masterclass in microhopped precision. Delicious.
