On draft at Sesame restaurant in Ashland, Oregon. Came in the glass a near black with a tan head. Nose of roasted malts, chocolate, coffee, and vanilla. Medium body and a smooth creamy mouth feel. Flavor shows lots of the vanilla, along with a good does of hops to balance the chocolate. Finishes bitter. Darn good beer.

Rich deep brown coloured body with a nice thick three centimetre tall tan head and a nice violet coloured glow. Aroma of light malt, nuts, earth and perhaps the slightest bit of vanilla - relatively mild nose, not much going on. Medium-bodied; Strong malt flavour up front with a little brown sugar and pit fruits and a solid vanilla and sweet finish with not much malt at all. Aftertaste is very weak and watery with a touch of malt, some light nuts and a hint of the vanilla and sugars - but not much at all. Overall, not a great offering and even though I wasn’t expecting much, after seeing some of these scores, I thought i’d get a good beer - but it wasn’t to be. Too thin with a mild flavour makes for a decent beer, but not to the ratings that are here. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Made in Oregon in Portland (PDX Airport - Terminal D), Oregon on 08-December-2013 for US$4.95 sampled at home in New Paltz, New York on 18-January-2014.

Poured from a 22 ounce bomber. Thanks to my father for sharing. Some dark roasted malts, bitter chocolate, slightly sweet. The vanilla is restrained. Tasty porter.

Dark brown on the table turns to a glowing red held up to the light. Rich coffee scents. A coffee, nutty, chocolate taste then a light vanilla creaminess appears at the end, Slightly thin but tasty.

22 oz bottle bought from Roth’s Sunnyslope Market in S.Salem. $3.50 Pours a good porter dark brown with a lovely thick, creamy and bubbly tan head. Aroma a little subdued but it has the typical porter roasted malts and a touch of vanilla essence. Flavour is well balanced with more of the roasty, burnt malts and the vanilla well mixed in but not too forward ( like many vanilla porters). Good. Mouth feel is nice and smooth ..no trouble getting this over the tongue! Very nice beer..better than the usual vanilla porter for sure.

Bottle - pours pitch black with medium head. Nose of roasted malt, coffee, some hints if vanilla. Thick and frothy mouthfeel. Taste is of creamy dark chocolate, coffee, malt, with a bitter vanilla finish. Bitterness seems to linger at the end. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

From bottle. Dark brown color. Aroma is roasted malt, dark chocolate, and a hint of vanilla. Taste is deep roasted malt, dark chocolate, and a little more vanilla flavor. Fairly smooth but the roasting almost is too overpowering in the finish, concealing the vanilla.

This was a nice porter, started out smooth, followed by vanilla fading into nice chocolate richness, then finished the same way it started

On tap at Pizza Research Institute: Pours dark, almost black with good CO2 release and sticky to the glass. Aroma of caramel, charcoal, roasted malts. Taset is rich vanilla, mellow chocoalte and resinous hops. Smooth, creamy, vanilla dominates. Rich, creamy sweet complex, fun and delicous.
