Draft. Poured black color with an average frothy tan head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate to heavy chocolate aroma. Medium to abundant body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. Medium to heavy sweet chocolate flavor with a medium to heavy sweet finish of moderate duration. Solid drinkable brew that I drank with a friend.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draft to taster at HopCat in Grand Rapids. Looks decent; a murky dark brown with light beige head that slowly dissipates into lacing. Smells and tastes of dark malt and chocolate with mild notes of roast and yeast. Tastes like it smells with a solid mouthfeel. A nice standard porter.

I only had time for a single beer at Hopcat so I chose to go local. This was a respectable pumpkin seasonal billed as a porter. It mostly works although with a few rough edges I think it is one I would not order again.
Aroma / Appearance - The oily black texture of the liquid clings to the sides of the glass. A mocha head adds character and depth. Inside a mix of smoky pumpkin seeds, nutmeg, and cinnamon lend it a late fall feel of leaves falling from trees and cool night breezes.
Flavor / Palate - Maple syrup, nutmeg, and cinnamon are just as present in the taste as the nose. Sweet warm pumpkin pie emerges after a brief pause along with a dollop of whipped cream. The finish is a blend of sugar and spice. This was a nice seasonal although with the selection at Hopcat not one I would probably order again despite a positive experience.
