On tap in Canterbury, Kent. Pours light brown with a marshy, malty nose. A bit of fruits and sweets in the aroma. Tastes a but of hops, a bit honey and fruits. Well done beer.

Cask (Bell & Crown, Canterbury)
Slightly mashy aroma. Quite fruity, almost citrussy retronasals. Rich palate, full, soft carbonation. Yup, definitely fruity in the mouth. Sweet, a bit touch caramelly. Nice roast, touch of wood. Pretty tasty rich ale.

Half pint, well kept cask at Sir Christopher Hatton. Copper coloured body, faint white head. Malt-fruity aroma with resinous hops coming through. Bready malts in the taste profile mixed with resin-like hops. More resinous bitterness to the finish. Well made bitter (London, 01.08.2011).

Cask at The Bell & Crown, Canterbury, 16th Oct 2010. Coppery amber with quite a musty nose, lots of earthiness. Quite caramel taste. Balanced and drinkable enough.

Hand pulled at the Old Contemptibles, Birmingham. Ooh, this was disappointing. Over tart, with a bundle of my least favourite UK cask characteristics: sickly malt, sour tinges in all the wrong places etc. Tastes far too strong, even though it isn’t.

Pours reddish brown with good clarity. Thin head. Nose is very good. Lots of citrous, grapefruit, lemon. Taste is citrous and fruity with caramel malt. Interestingly though, it doesn’t have much kick on the finish and is fairly light in flavour on the palate. Great nose and first taste and then tends to be quite subtle on the palate. No big fruit kick so a good session beer. Good refreshing bitter though and out of the ordinary.
