3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 JorisPPattyn (7306) - Antwerpen, BELGIUM - SEP 29, 2004
Fully hazy orange-amber; amber-yellow head, irregular, fast dwindling. Perfumed, vanilla, cardemom peel nose. Touch smoked flavour, tobacco-ashes. Quite some hops, not exactly the best IMO. Lots of malt, giving some (bitter) chocolate in the finish + more tobacco. Medium bodied. Mineral water feel, refreshing despite the dark malts. Nice beer, but only a Brit would call a 6% ABV beer a "strong" ale...
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 chriso (7254) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - JUN 5, 2005
A slightly sweet red-brown beer. Fruity and nutty. The aroma isn’t very distinctive. Some bitterness on the finish. Pleasant, but not very imposing for a strong ale. Cask (gravity), White Cliffs Festival, February 2005.
