3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
(Cask)Nicelyfloral and hoppy, really nice citrusy hops character, nicely bitter. Besides this there wasn't too much that excited me, but its a pretty solid IPA/bitter. Nice one.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottled, shared by Ot the Explorer. Clear amber color, short head. Aroma of earthy and flowery hops, not really outspoken, english yeast notes, hint of butter, caramel, toast. It feels for me these kinds of beers should be better drank from cask. Soft bitter taste, slight sweetness. Typical English bitter, hard to distinguish this from other bitters when itís the only bitter in a tasting.

UPDATED: APR 23, 2010 May, 2002 Bottle Conditioned. Kentís newest brewery opened in Canterbury at the start of 2001 (just as the microbrewery Kent Garden in Faversham closed down). The owner, Tony Prins, is an experienced brewer having worked for, among others, the Swale Brewery - also in Kent. He makes two bottle conditioned ales at present - Leviathan, and this Skrimshander which in the cask won best beer at the recent Kent Beer Festival. It is a copper coloured ale with an attractive frothy lace which remains for most of the drink. The hops are clean and mildly spicy with a touch of wood. Fuggles and Goldings are used. The body has a mild barley sugar sweetness which finishes with an Opal Fruits type of fruitiness. A decent pale ale, though perhaps lacking character. [3.0]
Nov 2002 Cask, Tudor Rose, Upnor. In perfect condition - the cask had just come on today. Deeply delicious. Creamy citric flavours dancing into oblivion. [3.9]
July 2003 Cask, Man of Kent, with Duff & Nuffield. Delightful. Floral hops and a quality sweet malt. [3.6]
May, 2008 The Plough, Stalisfield Green. A fresh and decent enough standard bitter - quite toffeeish with a pleasant hoppy finish. A stronger version of Golden Braid. [2.7]

Great for an open fire on a cold winters night. Not overly hopped and is better served slightly warm. A great ale!
