[500ml bottle, Beers of Europe, King’s Lynn] Pours a nice dark golden colour, with a respectable head that retains a while before dispersing. Some hazy cloudiness. Aromas of citrus hops and orange peel but quite subtle on the nose. Bitter aftertaste with a healthy hop delivery up front. Dry and bitter. A pretty good bottle-conditioned English IPA, it tastes quite a bit stronger than 4.5%abv, and has a lot of flavour considering. [05/05/2009]

500 ml bottle, at home. Poured into an english pint glass. ABV 4.5% Beautiful colour on the body, very deep orange to light amber. One finger of tan head, with average retention and some lacing left around the glass. Aroma of malts and caramel, along with slighty florar hoppy notes. Very nice. Bitter taste, even more bitter on the aftertaste. Lots of hops and some caramel again. Tastes great. Medium thick on the body, with average carbonation, giving a light bite on the finish. Very nice dryness on the palate as well. Overall, another great english beer.

Bottle conditioned. My 500th rating. Golden body with a short lasting white head; gentle carbonation; deep earthy malty aroma, with a spicy edge; rather thin in the mouth, with sweet malts and some citrus, then a long smooth bitterness develops with a resinous quality, leaving a dry and chewy finish, and pleasant warming senstation in the gut. An excellent ale.

hand pumped at the Black Friar, London UK. Poured clear amber-orange, thin head. Buttery-caramel aroma. Smooth and creamy medium mouthfeel. Savory caramel malt flavour to match the aroma. Fresh bitter hop finish.

Very subtle aroma - hops and malt just detectable. Standard appearance. Flavor is very nice - a balanced sweet malt and hops flavor with just a hint of cherry. A very enjoyable beer.

Gravity at GBBF 2006. Orangey-brown colour, slightly cloudy with no head. Caramel scent. Superb mouthfeel. Slightly sweet. Bitter hops, maybe some toffee. Not a complex beer but nice.

I had the Stone IPA tonight and this beer did what I was hoping that would do--provide a floral, relaxing hop flavor with just a gentle lay through the full palate. A bit sweet? Creamy, malty base. Excellent! (on tap, Man of Kent, Rochester)
