2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Bottle. Cloudy light amber with a large white head that sticks around. Heaps of rye bread in the aroma with confronting tropical notes - lychee, passionfruit and custard apple. Taste is bready and sharply peppery with a fair whack of bitterness. Light-bodied. Very dry and peppery finish. The fruit aromas are not enticing and then mostly go missing in the mouth. Quite interesting but didn’t much care for it.

2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Pours hazy amber with a growing head.
Nose shows doughy and fruity (almost cider-like, not hop-like) notes from the yeast and also some wheat. Not particularly interesting or enticing.
Flavour aren’t much of an improvement, although the rye certainly becomes apparent as a bold spicy character. The fruity cidery notes remain, not particularly pleasant, and it finishes slightly metallic with very little malt to smooth things out.
Starting to lose faith with this brewery, every now and again you get a great bottle, but it’s anything but consistent.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20
From a 330ml bottle on 31/5/2013. Pours a murky golden orange with huge bubbly head. Has a spicy fruity aroma (though my sense in this area is currently affected by quite a bad head cold. The flavour is really quite interesting - lots of sweet and sour citrus fruit, along was doses of spice, pepper and rye. The finish is quite tart and refreshing. The body is relatively full and the carbonation is (as one has come to expect from HopDog) excessive. An unusual beer with lots of character which would be a delight if it just a bit less bubbly.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle. Pours a nice golden orange. Slightly hazy. Decent fluffy off white head. Floral hop aromas brings a slightly chalky metallic aroma. Flavour wise resiny hops really dominate. Slightly mettalic once again and quite resiny. Nothing outstanding but definately nice easy drinking all the same.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle from Slowbeer. Bright hazy orange, typical rye aromas and flavours enhanced by solid pineapple/passionfruit hop characters. Not my favourite HopDog, but another olid effort.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Cloudy gold with huge, uncontrollable, frothy white head, but it settles down after a while. Huge pineapple juice aroma and a touch of malty grain. A little one dimensional although perhaps masked by the head. Resinous pine hops greet the front of the palate with hints of grapefruit following. Definite grain background, but subtle. The resin works through the beer with a nice, long, bitter finish. Another good one from the hopdog boys.
