el_caballo (98), Beverly Hills, California, USA May 12, 2008 Disappiontingly bland...tastes of banana with a bit of spice...easy to drink but just not much going on
dchmela (602), Orlando, Florida, USA Apr 14, 2008 Bottle courtesy Redlight. Pours a dark caramel color with a fluffy off white head. Malty sweet roasted grain aroma. Taste is sweet malt with hints of the roasted malt. Smooth, not very exciting. Beerlando (1135), Orlando, Florida, USA Apr 10, 2008 Updated: Apr 11, 2008Courtesy Redlight. Pours a very cloudy caramel brown color. A foamy, off-white head leaves minimal, sudsy lacing behind. The aroma shows dried caramel and wheat grains, with not much else going on. There are perhaps some faint dark fruits in there. The flavor is more of the same, with slightly oxidized caramel meeting dark spicy notes, dried grains, and indiscernible dark fruits. Light bodied and nearly bone dry, it is at least very easy to drink. There’s not really much to this one. Headbanger (904), Aurora, Illinois, USA Mar 7, 2008 16.9 oz bottle-A murky brown body with a nice tight tan head which emits an aroma of caramel and malt. Taste of this medium bodied brew is of a little banana and thats about it. I agree it is a bit watered down. The secong Hopf brew that I feel could be better and I’m wondering if they could of been old bottles. stefanje (466), (Santee) San Diego, California, USA Jan 14, 2008 500 ml bottle from bevmo. Pours a murky chocolate brown with a huge clumpy three finger head that lasts forever. The aroma is strong with sweet caramel, allspice, cloves and a hint of chocolate. The flavor is distinctive with banana, apple and chocolate. The mouthfeel was something of a letdown for me, I thought it was a bit thin and watery, not horribly so, but enough to distract. The finish was long with bananas and a slight sour aftertaste. Overall: This beers strengths outweigh its flaws and make it a quite quaff-able concoction. Recommended.
