heemer77 (3827), Savannah, Missouri, USA Feb 23, 2005 Updated: Oct 24, 2005Dark ruby and brown colored body. A large slightly tan head. aroma is bubblegum and some peanuts with grass. The taste is bubblegum and peaches with some slight apple. There is just a hint of nutmeg spice. Nice version of the style. Almost a perfect summer beer. DrunkAsASkunk (848), Lynnwood, Washington, USA Mar 11, 2003 What on earth is that...oh yes...yes....yes!!!! I'm having an orgasm just watching this pour and smelling the aroma...very nice! Aroma is banana, caramel malt like, more fruit, wheat, and more malt...very sweet and dark aroma. It pours very low in carbonation with no head and a nice dark brown dunkel appearance, with a brownish red when put right up to the light. The taste is very smooth and nice. Banana dominates with wheaty maltiness drying out the palate nicely. Fairly low carbonation level here..enough to liven up the palate and allow for the wheat to really sneak up on you in the end and make for this extremely pleasant aftertaste..nice and malty sweet. Thin mouthfeel, and little carbonation are probably the only two knocks, but really a damn nice beer. Eyedrinkale (3115), Beer Town, New York, USA Feb 27, 2004 Brown pour with big tan head. Aroma is banana, malt and wheaty. Had a bit of a thin, tinny mouthfeel with tastes of malt, malt and more malt. Nice lacing throughout. BuckNaked (1198), Tempe, Arizona, USA Jun 30, 2007 Pours to a moderately opaque, mostly dark brown colored body with a huge light beige colored head that rests atop the beer with a well-retained thick froth. The aroma shows light hints of wheat, a sweet light banana, a bit of yeast, some fruits (pear, plum, berries). It’s a mild aroma overall, but shows a nice blend of flavors with a thick scent. The taste is every so slightly bitter up front, though it quickly opens up to reveal a slightly sweet & creamy wheat, hints of lemon, cereal, light bread, and even some nice earthy noble hops along with some yeast flavors that nicely compliment a slight acidity. This is one of the more "drinkable" beers I’ve encountered, the light acidity and tartness perfectly counterbalancing the wheat. It does lack a bit of malt flavor and sometimes feels a bit watery and stale in the mouth. Medium carbonated, light-medium bodied. Finishes with some fruity apply & bread notes, along with a nice, crisp, clean acidity and light bitterness from the hops that really leaves the palate feeling refreshed. Cornfield (4412), Oak Forest, Illinois, USA Mar 17, 2005 An earthy brown color crowned by a lofty tan head, this has aromas of banana, light caramel malts, and some spiciness. The body is firm and smooth. The flavor is banana with caramel and apples and cloves and the slightest dash of hop bitterness. Splendid example of a dunkelweizen.
