Jet back body content. Smell of strong roasted grainy malts. Dark chocolate flavours, herbal hops and liquorice with dark fruits beneath. Slightly roasted. Oily palate. Well bodied. Lovely (Tromsø 14.01.2015).

On tap at Crowbar. Chocolate, coffe and liquorice, in the aroma and in the flaor, and it all blends very well together. No real wow factor, though, but well crafted.

0.33l bottle. What’s the deal with the paper clip on the cap? Original. It anyhow pours a really deep dark brown almost oily brown body with a wonderfully looking big dark brown head. Looks pretty much as good as they can really. Super hoppy and really fresh nose! Did not expect such a fresh hoppy nose to be honest, cause this smells nice! Lots of fresh green pine cones here with both candy, hops, roasted malts and a little bit of sweet cognac blended in between. Quite impressive stuff indeed. The taste is even more impressive. Damn this is one tasty brew! Super hoppy and just loaded with licorice and wet dry rocks. (Yeah I know). Dry chocolate with cocoa and a mild burned smoky touch all the way. Super interesting, really tasty and just about one of the best and most interesting porters I’ve had in way to long. A hoppy monster, and I like hoppy monster porters. Damn good work! It’s not the last bottle I’ll be having of this beauty. 20.12.2013

Mycket rostade toner, lakrits, choklad, kaffe, sojatoner, sötma, fyllig, oljig i konsistensen. Avslutningen är torr med rostade toner.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pours a viscous dark brown liquid that looks pitch black in the glass. The quite large, medium brown head is creamy and dense, long-lived and laces the glass excellently. The aroma is pretty special, actually quite strange. It’s dominated by overripe or almost rotten fruity notes, especially citrus. The roasted background include coffee and chocolate. The rotten citrus is there in the flavours as well, in addition to ash and badly integrated alcohol. Further back I get chocolate, and vague hints of tropical fruits. The beer is full-bodied with an oily texture and moderate carbonation, and with a rough feel. I find both the aroma and flavour somewhat confusing: this is not a fruity porter nor a BIPA, but something in between. The hops don’t feel like a fully integrated part of the beer, it’s sort of laying a disturbing carped of rotten fruits over the roasted porter notes. Having said that, this is not a bad beer by any means. Just not that amazing.
