Cask at Mondial de la Bière 2012, June 8. Pours a deep copper with a spare diminishing off-white head. Lovely aroma is fruity and yeasty along with a good amount of fruity hops and herbs. Flavour of Belgian yeast, fruit, herb and a nice bitter finish. Medium bodied. So drinkable, I loved it!

Draft: Poured a hazy light amber color ale with a large foamy head with good retention. Aroma consists of weird and unique note of citrus and fruity notes with a lightly sweet malt backbone. Taste is also a mix of fruity and citrus notes which I thought originated from the hops but the brewer mentioned were coming from the malt bill which is very particular. Body was quite full with good carbonation. Very unique tasting beer and not sure I would drink vast quantities but very glad to had a chance to try this one.

A hazed orange amber ale with no head. In aroma, a nice caramel malt with treacle, pungent floral hops, coriander, smooth and classic. In mouth, a great crisp biscuit malt, with nice British hops, floral light scotch notes, very nice. On tap at Mondiale 2012, June 8 2012.

(Rating #4403)

Cask, dry hop citra at the brewery, dark copper color, with no head, nice floral leafy, piney, cedary, fruity citrus lime peel, lychee, minty hoppy nose, with a mild tea leaf, spicy herb note, with a yeasty, fruity, faint toasted, bready, pale malt accent in the aroma follows through on a medium-bodied palate with a mild flowery leafy, piney, tropical fruit, lychee, citrus lime, green grapefruit hoppy character from the citra hop used, with a faint peppery tobacco leafiness, herbal flavour, leading towards a watery, juicy leafy, grassy, tea leaf, citrus lime peel hop bittering finish.

On tap at the Hopfenstark Anniversary Party. Pours a rather clear amber with a thin white head. Nice citrus hops on the nose, a bit of yeast and a touch of crisp malt. At first I was picking up some vanilla as well, but it turns out that was from the handsoap in the bathroom. Well, at least I smell lovely. Crisp and clean, but a bit thin. Like another one of the beers, I have a feeling the poor mouthfeel here is because this was pouring foamy and they had to strain pour this out of pitchers. That’s a shame because I really think with better carbonation this would be lovely. Finishes crisply bitter with a touch of grapefruit and a bit of yeast. Rather nice but it could be better if served in better condition.

[4475-20120608] Cask. Floral citrus flesh hops aroma. Slightly hazy, bet brown body with no lasting head. Grainy bitter buttery hops flavour has a lingering citrus toast. Medium body. Interesting, maybe a little flat. (7/3/7/3/13) 3.3

Amber and cloudy with a fruity aroma. There is pear and plum on the nose. Drier on the palate than the nose indicated, there is nevertheless a fair bit of melony fruitiness. Finishes hoppy and dry.

Sample at Mondial 2012. Cloudy copper pour with frothy head. Aroma is fruity, almost too much so sort of sticky plum juice and rotten grain, some belgian yeast to complete. Strange. Taste is sweet, lots of fruity notes, yeasty, faint hop bitterness. Palate is sweet, a bit heavy with med carbonation. Meh.
