First of a special series, this is another uncommon beer from Hopfenstark. True Belgian esters from Abbey yeast, a lot of malt and body without any alcohol taste and some grape flavor from New World hops.

On tap @ Station Ho.St (Montréal). Hazy golden/amber with a medium off-white head and heavy lacing. Aroma of Belgian yeast, liquorice, light spices, malt and light alcohol. Taste is slightly sweet with yeast, Belgiumness, fruity notes, liquorice and a touch of alcohol. Medium body. Light carbonation. Dry finish. Interesting beer. The deScription I made of it doesn’t sound particularly unique, but the beer was definitely "outside the box". I would love to try one of the wine barrel-aged version of this beer... I really think there’s a good fit here.

On tap at the new bar downtown. Hazy copper pour with white head. Aroma of spices, lots of belgian yeast carachter, light fruity notes. Taste is boozy, very spicy, strong belgian yeast flavor. Palate is med carbed and heavy bodied. Meh.

Nice cloudy orange pour here. Soft, light carbonation. Booze, sweet malt and some florals. Light lacing and some head. On the light side of the Belgian Strongs, if that makes sense to anyone. Tap at opening night at Montreal brewpub.

Pours slightly murky brown with good head and lacing. Notes of sweet candy yeast, feels like a tripel. Full body with medium carbonation. Great effort.

Sampled at THE FESTIVAL 2013 with Andrew, Jay and Kramer. Pours a deep murky brown body with light off white lacing. Aroma is spice, belgian candy, grapes and malt. Mouthfeel is medium with a noticeable estery spice, sweet caramel malt, belgian candy, light grass hop and sweet sugar.
