On tap @ local option. Pours a clear dark brown with a creamy light brown head that dissipates slowly to the edges and laces beautifully. Aroma is very creamy dark grains with light coffee with a bit of bitter chocolate. Flavor is creamy coffee and dark chocolate with a bit of dry grain in the finish.

(Rating #4081)

Handbottle from the brewery. Pours a dark brown almost black with a big frothy beige head. Lot’s of carbonation. Aroma of roasted malts, vanilla and dark chocolates. Taste is a bit fizzy, roasted malts, chocolate and some vanilla. Nice beer!

On tap at the brewery, dark brown color, with some reddish highlights, and a beige head, nice soft roasted peanut, dark coffee, mild bitter chocolate, truffle nose with some faint yeasty fuity accents, and light roasted, black, chocolate, toasted malt note in the aroma follows through on a medium-bodied palate with a mild grated coconut, chocolatey praline, roasted, chocolate, toasted malt, light fruity character, with some dried raisin, blackcherry, mellow roasted coffee bean flavors, with a faint chocolate cake, chocolate truffle backbone, and a kind of bourbonish undertone, leading towards a light fruity, blackberry, chocolatey, faint lingering roasted bitterness finish.

Deep black beer with woody, fruity and roasty aromas. String taste of alcohol. A great beer in its style.

bottle. Massive 4 finger head, cola black. Aroma of roasted malts, brown sugar, molasses, sauna wood. Taste is a fair bit sweeter than the smell with lots of brown sugar, burnt caramel, toffee, roasted malts, coffee with sugar. A tad sweet for my tastes - if you can find the barrel aged version it’s a real treat and blows this (and most other quebec porters not produced by LTM) out of the water.

Poured out a dark brown with a solid red hue, large, frothy light brown cap that sticks around quite nicely and produces some dissipating spots but on a new pour the lacing is thick and dirty looking and glues itself to the glass. Very sweet aroma - too sweet, caramel, vanilla, coconut, dates, tons of sweetness throughout and it seems to be gaining ground. The taste is also sweet very sweet with a hint of alcohol.. just a hint, caramel, odd chocolate, medium roast, vanilla, light spice, coconut, brown sugar, weak molasses. The flavour has been consistent the entire time. Ok feel, astringent at times on the finish. Too sweet. Long finish. Meh.

Draft. Pours near black with a beige head. Sweet and roasty malty aroma with some caramel. The flavor has roasted malts, dark fruits, toast, and a light malty sweetness. Well balanced. Nice.

watery and light body with low carbonation. a bit of nut and sweetness in some Colombian coffee flavor. no hint of alcohol. I really did not get anything else out of this one.
