GregClow (2812) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - DEC 14, 2010
Bottle shared with blankboy & garthicus at Volo, circa Dec 2008. Deep ruby with a small mocha head. Roasted malt aroma with a slight lactic sourness and hints of cold coffee. Medium bodied. Flavour is interesting - quite malty, but also a bit funky, plus notes of caramel and dry cocoa. Quite unique, and quite nice.

SlovakSniper (2807) - Candiac/Frelighsburg, Quebec, CANADA - FEB 5, 2011

probstblueribbon (2737) - Nepean, Ontario, CANADA - DEC 16, 2009
500 ml bottle via julienhuxley, shared with Billy, served cool in a tuumbler. NO21/09.

App.: Deep brown-black, so-so tan head. Aroma: INFECTED! Unpleasant organic acids, some nice deep malts underneath (the silver lining), generally bad. Palate: Medium+ body, gentle carbonation. Flav.: Some nice black coffee and dark chocolate notes, light fruitiness, marred by infection; lightly sweet, low bitterness inappropriate tang.

Quite unfortunate. Needs to be re-rated.

The apearance is dark brown, red tinge, sligtht translucence. The aroma is sweet, brown sugar, chocolate. The flavor is the same as the aroma, but more roasty. Medium in body. Pine hop bitterness on the finish, some residual sweetness as well. Medium in body. Decent.

As it warms it becomes peaty and smoky. Flavour: Slight sour, malt, peat and chocolate. Very nice. Another great Hopfenstark number!
