Tap at Blue Monk. Exceptional. Aromas of grass, chocolate, and dark fruit. Taste has a sweet start, with bitterness taking over. Palate is syrupy, and full bodied. Dark brown, with short-lived head.

Tap at Vices et Versa. Deep brown black beer with a bit of ruddy/ruby highlights. The aroma is surprisingly clean. Light molasses and a soft dried plumminess in the nose. Very plummy and toasty, but it doesn’t have much roasted character at all. As it warms, it really opens up. Loads of clean, well-lagered dark sweetness. Some treacle and a bit of fudgey chocolate character. Very, very clean palate. Light lingering roast. Very complex with a nice mix of figs and dark malts and a clean finish. One of the better Baltic Porter’s I’ve had in quite some time.

UPDATED: JUN 19, 2009 On tap at the brewery. Pitch black with a medium mocha creamy head with good retention. aroma is deep chocolate, cream, roasted malt and some herbal hops. Flavor is a little sweeter than expected with chocolate, cream, roasted malt, herbal hops and a bitter finish. Full body. A very good Baltic porter. .

Sampled draught at the Mondial, Montreal (May 2007). Opaque with a nice bit of lasting head, utterly black....aroma is at first dominated by plump dark grapes and prunes, but soon lovely roasty malts show up, and chocolate-covered cherries sweeten things up later....the body follows quite as you would expect, very fruity and chocolaty, blueberries bursting through chocolate frosting and light whispers of cherry sauce swirling around....little bitterness to go with the light roastiness until the very finish, when a faint burnt note arrives....low carbonation, could be fuller in the mouth. Still very, very solid.

Draught. Very dark brown with a small brown ring of head. Solid aroma - oaky, smoke, raisin sugars, and plum. Medium body that has a good dose of sweetness but is never overwhelming. There’s some toffee and roast fluffiness and finishes with a nice malt bitterness. Very good.
Sampled at Mondial on June 1, 2007.

On tap at Oktoberfest in Mascouche. The color is a very dark brown with a thick beige head. The taste and aroma is of malt and fruits. There is also a fineshing taste of sweet toffee that leaves a nice aftertaste.

750 ml bottle, fresh. Nice black pour with a thin creamy whitish head. Great aroma of milk chocolate, light grainy notes and fruit. Taste is sweet, lots of chocolate with some fruity fig like taste and a hint of roasted grain. Palate is smooth, relatively weak carbonation.

On tap @ local option. Pours a clear dark brown with a creamy light brown head that dissipates slowly to the edges and laces beautifully. Aroma is very creamy dark grains with light coffee with a bit of bitter chocolate. Flavor is creamy coffee and dark chocolate with a bit of dry grain in the finish.
