On tap at Mondial.
Dark brown falling into ebony. Smallish creamy head.3+
Roasty, even with coco accents. Lightly vinous. Roasty, hint of smoke.
Full bodied .Rich potent pit tar like smoky charcter. It is quiet different in character to let say Polish Baltics. I feel that the emphasis is placed in complexity of its brew than straight forward solid yet unsophisticated quality roast. Here roasted qualities are secondary. Over all quiet pleasant potent brew. Long lasting gently bitter finish.

GregClow (2736) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - DEC 14, 2010
Bottle shared with blankboy & garthicus at Volo, circa Dec 2008. Deep ruby with a small mocha head. Roasted malt aroma with a slight lactic sourness and hints of cold coffee. Medium bodied. Flavour is interesting - quite malty, but also a bit funky, plus notes of caramel and dry cocoa. Quite unique, and quite nice.

(Rating #4081)

Pours a black color with brown highlights and a medium, light brown head. Aroma of chocolate and vanilla beans, there’s a promise of luscious malt in there. Good flavor of chocolate with rich roasted malt and a dry, bitter finish. THe body is medium with a creamy texture and moderate carbonation.

Bottle (500ml) at Volo, shared with garthicus & GregClow. Pours a very dark orange-brown with an average size semi-lasting foamy tan head. Slightly subtle aroma of roasted malt, a hint of sourness (or metal), some coffee and chocolate. Flavour of roasted malt with notes of chocolate, dark fruit and the aforementioned metal/sourness. Dry, roasty finish. Medium bodied. Pretty good, not great.

On tap at the brewery, dark brown color, with some reddish highlights, and a beige head, nice soft roasted peanut, dark coffee, mild bitter chocolate, truffle nose with some faint yeasty fuity accents, and light roasted, black, chocolate, toasted malt note in the aroma follows through on a medium-bodied palate with a mild grated coconut, chocolatey praline, roasted, chocolate, toasted malt, light fruity character, with some dried raisin, blackcherry, mellow roasted coffee bean flavors, with a faint chocolate cake, chocolate truffle backbone, and a kind of bourbonish undertone, leading towards a light fruity, blackberry, chocolatey, faint lingering roasted bitterness finish.

750 ml bottle, although the label says 500ml, seen for the first time today in BDF, sold at 9,29$. Strong aroma, sweet, smokey, not too much to my liking. Taste is of roasted sweet malt, figs, black licorice, some fruityness, notes of smoke, pleasing, neither too harsh nor too heavy, with Texture is not too thick without being watery, pretty well-balanced. Moderate hop bitterness and roasted malt lingering in aftertaste. Goes down very well at 8 %, being not too high in ABV. Well done, enjoyable, expensive and quite worth it.
