Aroma: Chocolate, roasted, nuts and coffee but on a very weak intensity. Appearance: Intense black with a café-creme head, average thickness, dense, with a very nice lacing. Taste: Attack is sweet with notes of milk chocolate, caramel, malted milk and honey. It is surprising how the roasted accents are not sticking out and by the same fact leaving a very weak roasted bitterness. Everything happens in sugars. Almost no wood, roast and smoke accents. Deceiving a bit.

750 mL bottle shared by Kinz at the 20th Richmond Gathering. Thanks! Pours a dark reddish brown color with a thin tan head. Fair head retention. Aroma of dry roast, nuts, mild tart fruity notes. The taste is chocolate, nutty notes, sweet malts, herbal hops. Medium bodied. Nice.

Pours cola with a slight ruby tinge with no head or lacing. Nose is figs and brown sugar, almost like a date square. Notes of molasses, espresso, roasted cereal. Taste is medium sweet low bitterness. Light body with low carbonation. Alcohol well hidden.

Several months old version. Quite the black pour wearing a lasting light tan head. Not quite as fruity as I expected. This is a soft, round and sweetish, chocolatey offering. Fudge and nuts own most of the palate, but a grapey and plumy understated layer can be found underneath. Soft carbonation, medium, comfortable body. Moderate hops are still doing the job, bringing a healthy bitterness with leafy, earthy notes. Clean, well-balanced and most pleasant offering.

Sampled at 08 vt beer fest. Pours a dark brown/black with a khaki head. Aroma of roasted malts, chocolate, coffee and a hint of molasses. Flavor follows the aroma with a touch of fruit and has a dry and bitter finish.

Pours a dark dark brown color with a light brown head. Smells of caramel Ann’s chocolate. Taste is similar. Chose this beer because it was made in Canada. Delicious coffee aftertaste.

750 bottle shared by suzygreenberg. Thanks Ben. Nose is tart and almost vinous. Lighter dark malt sweetness underneath, but mostly oddly tart and seemingly off. Dark brown pour with a large rocky head. Flavor starts tart and lactic, stays that way throughout pretty much. Some roasted malts underneath, but definitely unintended sourness. Airy carbonation. Not bad, but not meant to be this way I would think.

Bottle shared by lushawn the night before Dark Lord Day- thanks, Shawn! Pours a deep cola brown color with a big tan head. Aroma of roasted malts, root beer, rust, and dark chocolate. Flavor of sweet and roasted malts, brown sugar, dark chocolate, and earth. Light-medium bodied with surprisingly sharp carbonation and a soda-like mouthfeel. Decent Baltic porter but something seemed off in the way this was carbonated.
