Opaque, dark with reddish hue, one finger’s head with much lace. Aroma of coffee and chocolate. Flavor similar to aroma with notes of caramelized malts and hops (fuggles). Pronounced alcohol but well balanced with the strong flavors. Afertaste is sweet with bitter notes. Too bad this one cannot be purchased bottled for taking home!

Bottle at Volo courtesty Hogtown and tupalev. Near black with a thin head. Fairly chocolatey, with some cocoa and gutted nuts. Tart body with some chocolate, some nuts and cherry. Too much tartness keeps this beer from doing much of anything to interest me, sa the other flavours all become obfuscated.

Bottle at Volo. Opaque black with nice head. Some cherry pit and clean metals in the complex nose. Soft, low carbonation. Smooth. Licorice, soya, resin, balsamic, sour cherry. Gorgeous!

[1442-20080531] Bottle. Boozy roast malt aroma has lots of wood. Dark brown red body with a quick foamy light tan head. Flavour has a little watery banana. Medium body. Interesting.

Sampled at 08 vt beer fest. Pours a dark brown/black with a khaki head. Aroma of roasted malts, chocolate, coffee and a hint of molasses. Flavor follows the aroma with a touch of fruit and has a dry and bitter finish.
