3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 bhensonb (8991) - Woodland, California, USA - MAY 12, 2013
Capped 750 from The Davis Beer Shoppe. Pours hazy gold with a foamy white head. Aroma is lightly, lightly smoky with something like a non-sour Berliner Weisse background. Med body, almost. Flavor is lightly smoky, and there’s something like earthy lemon. It’s certainly not sour, but it is arguably tart. It’s certainly different, and it’s working pretty well on a hot evening. I’m liking it more and more.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Cybercat (2452) - Georgia, USA - MAY 9, 2013
Pours a lovely clear solar yellow with a very thick, fluffy, and fairly persistent off-white head. Aroma is not strong, but still tempts with sweet malt, yeasty and banana tones. Eminently pleasing flavor delights the palate with sweet malt, banana, pear, yeast, and subtle hoppy notes. Texture has about average weight but good fizz. Low gravity, high enjoyability.

Bottle - bought at the behest of my physicist wife :). Pours clear golden yellow with some small floaties. Medium fizzy white head that dissipates fairly quickly, leaving a residual that nevertheless laces well. Aroma is very saison-like, yeast, grass, smoke, coriander. Flavor is about the same, noticeably but delicately smoky, a bit fruity, a lot of yeast character. Light sweet, no real bitterness. Just a touch of tartness, some peppery spice. Light bodied, prickly carbonation in the mouth. This is quite a nice beer actually!

BerlineRauchSaison is certainly what this one is. This poured a hazy golden color with a white head. Aroma was of mild lemon rind, spices, and smoked malt. Flavor was at first zesty spices and light fruit, blanketed by a mild notes of smokes. Very lgiht and refreshing and flavorful.

22, capped. Pours a clear medium amber with burnished golden brown highlights. Loose creamy white head that doesn’t stick around too long. Lots of rings of sedimentary lace. Lemons and dandelion greens on the nose. Creamy medium body with soft carb, maybe a little flabby. Mostly dandelion greens on the mid palate with lemon showing. Mild tart finish. Not too shabby.

Bomber pours straw yellow. My goal tonight is to beat swoopjones in beers rated. This one has no nose but is skunky as shit. Blah. Pass.

Bouteille 750ml. COuleur or trouble, mousse blanche fuyante. Arôme de fumée, bacon, paille. Goût de fumée, céréales, citron en fin de bouche, rafraîchissante. Carbonation faible, corps moyen.
3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 VT (796) - Quebec City, Quebec, CANADA - MAR 21, 2013
750 ml bottle. Pours a foggy whitish with a resilient white head. Smell is smokey, wheat malt. Flavor is lemonade, lemon, smoked, meat, belgian yeast. But mostly smoke. Finish is smokey and lemoney. Some lingering smokey, salty and spicy notes. Light body, soft mouthfeel. Weak carbonation. A very unique beer, quite the experience. Good, but not quite my cup of tea.

750 mL bottle purchased at The Davis Beer Shoppe. The aroma on this is a bit smoky, and somewhat cheesy. Smells a lot like smoked Gouda! Underlying light lemon and a little metallic, but this is like Smoked Gouda Beer. Moderately hazy golden blonde body with a small, bubbly, light yellow head. Starts with a little cheesy yeast esteriness. Becomes a little smoked in the middle. Lightly carbonated...not enough, IMO. After the smoke comes some more phenolic esters. The smoke plays very nicely with the malts and the yeast esters here. I don’t really get too much of the Berliner character of the beer, but I love the smokiness and how this is like a really nice Gouda Cheese. Could use a little more carbonation to help balance the thin and delicate body. Could be very drinkable in the summer.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 Jow (1375) - New York, USA - MAR 15, 2013
Pulled up to the bar and fellow ratebeerians had already cracked this puppy so I tossed in to give it a try. Weird brew all around. Pours dull dusty gold. Light smoky, yeasty, fruity aroma. Tastes of peach, pears, banana, smoke, peppery, pale malts and tart puckering. Aftertaste is campfire
