It’s not a smoke beer. It’s not a tart Berliner Weisse. It’s maybe a weird saison. BerlinerRauchSaison. Yes! Low gravity beer with good presence of wheat. A small layer of smoke malt disappears after a few sips. And light tartness and spice from the Saison yeast. Refreshing and flavourful at the same time.

Awesome name to describe this special beer. My new discovery. Love the mix of taste and aroma. It’s unique and can’t be compare. Nice name for a microbrewery too!

Cloudy blond / yellow with a large white standing head. Aroma is earthy, smoke, citrus, spicy. Medium body with average carbonation. Taste is smoke for the first few sips, then all the typical saison flavors are there, earthy, spicy, citrus. Interesting and original. It’s also very refreshing. Very good !!

Pours a clear blond beer with a medium white head, no saturation. Smells smoky, some spices, some orange, some grass. Really interesting stuff. Tastes smokey, gentle bitterness. Leaves a gentle bitter, smoked palate, beer is a bit flat but the mouth feel is great for its abv. I love this beer!

Bottle. Malty wood smoke aroma. Cloudy gold with a small white head. Smoky wheat malt and light horseblanket flavor. Medium body, soft carbonation. Wow! Just wow.

Dégusté au Mondial de la bière de Montréal 2011. Aspect brumeux et goût hyper smoky. Super!

Very much a perfect mixture of the 3 styles. Really it is decent;y close to a graetzer but not as smokey.

750mL bottle purchased from Olive Tree Market in OB whenever the hell this came out, like six months ago, for $16.99. Cost to alcohol ratio is quite low with this baby, though Cantillons are much the same at this point. Whatevs. Clear yellow gold with a one finger white head, pretty decent retention. Wonderful aroma of moderate smoked Bamberg-esque malts, and nosing through to some fruity pear and spicy white pepper, biscuit malt backbone. Not finding any Berliner lacto tang in the nose. Lots going on for a sub-four percent beer. Flavor adds a slight tang, but still doesn’t seem lacto-related--more from the yeast? Also, less smoke in the flavor and stronger pear yeasty fruitiness. Bone dry, bitterness peaked at a 2ish, a touch earthy. Moderate to high carbonation with a light body. I’ll probably buy another bottle, but dunno what the shelf life of this is going to be. Probably not all too long. Hopfenstark wins again--this dude knows how to brew.
