Black with a frothy brown head. Nice herbal nose, almost minty. Full body, but so easy to drink. Nice cocoa flavor, bold palate, and refreshing minty aftertaste. This is a great harvest ale. The combination of the stout intensity and the clean freshness of the hops is amazing. Really outstanding beer. On tap at Le Grillon

Volo Cask Days 2010
Aroma mild light roast character paired with leafy hops. Good play of aromas here. Clean and straight.7+
Appearance dark brown with off tanned top.
Flavor and Palate : Medium full bodied. Gentle hint of licorice followed by good well developed dark malts. Very easy going with clean hop profile. Slight hint of mint. Very tasty ale.

2010-10-29. Very dark brown-black body with a tiny head. 3+ Perplexing aroma, modest leafy hops, hinds of some kind of spic, kind of anise like? 7+ Flavour is similar, modest green character, sweeter dark malt in the middle leads up to bitter hops in the finish. 7+ Smooth average plus palate is a touch too lightly carbonated for my preference. Pretty solid. Enjoyable. Cask at Volo, Toronto

On cask at Volo Cask Days 2010. Pours a slightly reddish dark brown with tan head. Aroma is hop-forward on top of roast, anise and chocolate. Flavour is more stout-like with sweet chocolate, licorice and roast malt up front giving way to fresh hops yielding a very nice lingering bitter finish. My favourite beer of the day.

Enjoyed on cask at Volo Cask Days 2010. The clear winner overall of the fest for me this year. 85 IBU stout. I smell hops big time. Medium pkus mouthfeel. Good c-hop taste with some roast, a cross-style. Opaque body and bubbly head.

Drank on tap (12 oz) at Le St. Bock in Montreal, on October 30, 2010. Burnt brown, thin beige head. Barley malt aroma with notes of sweet chocolate, a bit hoppy. Taste of malted barley, a good combination of cocoa and bitter hops, very warm in the mouth. Finaly an harvest ale that I realy like, with some black IPA and some stout!

On cask for Cask Days at Volo in Toronto. Served in an English pint glass. Pours pure black with a small, rocky tan head. The head remains but does not lace. The aroma has notes of sweet, roasted malts, along with licorice, flowers, pine and some earth. The flavour is sweet up front with anise, becoming sweeter with a hop accent towards the end. It is full in body with a smooth, milky texture and flat carbonation. Overall, this is a very nice stout with a nice roasty aroma and a delicious anise accent. 2010-10-29
