Tap at the brewpub’s anniversary party. Dark pour, creamy tan head. Nice dry grain aromas, very roasted, hops, toasted nuts, some coffee. Taste is well balanced for a strong stout. Slight grainy sweetness easily leveled by the hops and toast flavors. Palate is just creamy enough to coat the inside of the mouth, very enjoyable.

Draft @ ginger man NYC. Dark pour tan head. Chocolate and roasted malt with some light bitterness and licorice tones. Some hints of woody tones.

Drank on tap (12 oz) at Le St. Bock in Montreal, on October 30, 2010. Burnt brown, thin beige head. Barley malt aroma with notes of sweet chocolate, a bit hoppy. Taste of malted barley, a good combination of cocoa and bitter hops, very warm in the mouth. Finaly an harvest ale that I realy like, with some black IPA and some stout!

On tap at Tap and Mallet. Black with a frothy brown head. Herbal nose, almost minty. Full body, but so easy to drink. Nice cocoa flavor, bold palate. This is a great harvest stout. The combination of the stout intensity and the clean freshness of the hops is amazing. Great stuff.

On tap @ L’Hermite (Victoriaville). Dark brown with a small beige head and some lacing. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee, nuts and grains. Taste is about the same with a slight hoppy finish. Not too sweet. Medium body. Ok Foreign Stout, but nothing exceptionnal.

On cask at Volo Cask Days 2010. Pours a slightly reddish dark brown with tan head. Aroma is hop-forward on top of roast, anise and chocolate. Flavour is more stout-like with sweet chocolate, licorice and roast malt up front giving way to fresh hops yielding a very nice lingering bitter finish. My favourite beer of the day.

Black pour with an off-white head. Aroma holds a lot of really nice complex smoke and earth. Flavor holds a lot more smoke, but not a ton of complexity. Still a good drinkable palate and very tasty.

UPDATED: DEC 23, 2010 Tap at Volo (in cask). Great beer. Aromas of grain, caramel, and chocolate. Taste is sweet, with bitter notes. Palate is syrupy, with a full body. Black, with a head that disappears. Re-rate: Tap at Saint-Bock brewery. Aromas of roasted coffee, grass, chocolate. Taste has a sweet start, with bitterness taking over for a long finish. Velvety, with a medium-to-full body. Black, with a frothy head.
