Bottle,500 ml. Black as night with moka head. Earthy aroma of oak, cocoa and raspberry. Extremely well balanced flavor. Almost no sign of alcohol, very potent bitterness. It taste like a raspberry coated with 85% chocolate. It’s truly Imperial, Nicolas would have been pleased.

[1246-20080401] Bottle. Toated bandaid roast malt aroma with dry earthen wood and a mild fruity base. Dark black brown body with a long-lasting bubbly tan head. Sweet fruity roast malt flavour has a full earthy peat base, notes of smooth dark chocolate and barely noticeable alcohol. Full solid body. Really well-brewed, lovely.

Bottle shared with HogTownHarry, tupalev, jerc & mabel -- from the brewery via GregClow. Pours black with an average size lasting frothy light-brown head. Aroma: Wow, that’s lovely! Roasted malt, vanilla, oak, chocolate, dark fruit, light smokre and more -- I could sniff this for hours. Sniff. Sniff. Flavour’s roasty along with oak, vanilla, cocoa, a hint of smoke and a touch of alcohol. Nice roasty bitter finish. Medium bodied. This is an amazing Imperial Stout -- one of the best I’ve had in a while.

Thick, oily and inky, with only a hint of brown. Rich, molassesy aroma wth hints of fruits and light nuts. Boozy towards the end, but still rich and oily. Fun stuff.

A deep dark stout with a thick dark brown head, lacing and onctuous. A musty vinous chocolate aroma with dark fruits, light soy sauce notes and molasses in aroma. In mouth, a sultry bitter chocolate with warming alcohol, light vanilla and flral hops. Like a good belgian dark chocolate. Rich and onctuous. Bottle from the brewery, March 2008. Sampled august 16, 2008.

Bottle at the no Greg tasting, courtesy of, of course, Greg, shared with Hogtown Harry, Blankboy, Jerc, and Mabel. Strong bourbon aroma, some alcohol, a little vanilla. Nice. Black, bubbly chocolaty brown head. Taste is good - the barrel actually softens this stout up a bit - the wood and vanilla mix deliciously with the strong roast and alcohol! Strong bourbon-like finish. Good stuff from a talented brewer.

At the pub. One sniff and you’ll smudge your nose with oily charcoal. Minimal head. Black wine and charcoal oil.

Bottle (500ml). No ClowGr’s tasting, shared with blankboy, jerc, mabel and tupalev. Opaque, oily black, frothy smallish light brown head. Aroma of milk solids, plasticene, vanilla, dry old wood and deep roast chocolate malt. Taste, follows, much darker and roastier, tart cassis and burnt treacle notes, decidedly strong alcohol character, and it stays on the palate a long time. Somewhat still, slick and oily, long bitter-boozy bourbony finish - well done, very sophisticated, feels like it has some age on it - nice!!!
