On tap at Vice et Versa, pours a very dark amber brown with a small tan head. Aroma is characterized by cocoa powder, with some secondary charcoal notes. Flavour is very stale and coal-like, with week-old stale coffee that pretty much dominates, a bit of muffled coal notes on the finish. Quite poor, with no real depth or pleasant subtleties.

(hiver 2006-07)

draft at Blue Monk, Buffalo. dark black pour. Roasty aroma. taste is roasty upfront but followed by an unpleasant acidic sourness. Dirty feeling mouthfeel. Strange porter

750 ml bottle; thanks to fred82 for the trade; slow gusher with foamy tan head; clear, dark brown in color; has a light sour note on the nose that points towards a possible infection; a little dark roast too; yup, super fizzy mouthfeel and not overly sour, but not quite right; fizzy carbonation overwhelms any flavor; sour roast, ugh; not overly bad like some of the recent Shorts stuff, but not right

First off, GREAT Frenchy name. This beer has a great crisp nose. touch sour and fruit. Taste lightly roast with good acidity and sourness. Winey dry grape, leafy and a touch sweet earthiness, gorgeous dry and lightly fruity finish. Palate only lightly parching, pleasant.

Draft at ChurchKey. Poured a dark brown, nearly opaque. The head was light brown. Smelled of dark chocolate and subdued coffee. Medium bodied and tart in an oaky kind of way. Tasted predominantly of chocolate and subdued roast. Odd, and not all that appealing too me.

Sampled on tap at Max’s Baltimore. Pours a medium bodied, deep brown with one ring of beige head. Aroma is a nice mix of coffee, nuts, milk chocolate, lightly smoky, almost like a good BBQ sauce. Flavor is sweet, malty, dark bread, milk chocolate. Finish is watery with a touch of coffee bitterness.

presario (4655) - Stampede City, Alberta, CANADA - APR 29, 2010
Bottle. Black with foamy brown head. Thick roasted malt aroma with strong coffee and some chocolate notes. Unfortunately a strong sourness cuts through the roasted malt flavour ruining what should be a very good porter. Second sip starts roasted but the lemon freight train picks up steam crushing everything else.
