3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pours a hazy dark yellow-brown with a small amount of white head that lingers for a while. Smell is fairly sweet, with some vanilla, some spice, and maybe a hint of funk. Palate is medium bodied with good carbonation. Taste is a bit weird, this is much more of a tripel than a belgian saison. Quite sweet at first then follows with a bit of bitter and a bit of sour, the aftertaste is slightly better and balanced with sweetness. Interesting overall, but not really what I think when I hear "rye saison."

2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Tangy and tart yet sweet and yet unbalanced. A pretty messy beer, the yeast is there too adding sligth phenolics. Messy.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle shared by Drew. Thanks! Pours a paler gold with a big white head that falls. Nose is full of citrus. Also some black tea and orange blossom. Clean pils and vanilla. On tasting, itís a bit flabby. Peach and vanilla, more tea and citrus. Medium bitterness but has a pilsner sweetness that keeps it from drying out. Solid but not quite there.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle from City Beer. Pours murky golden with a decent white head and a sharp fruity aroma. There is a slightly sour fruit and light malt flavor, with a dry finish. Not much of a yeast presence and a bit light on flavor, but easy to drink.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap at Hopfenstark during their anniversary party. Pours a hazy golden amber with a thin to medium sized white head. Soft floral yeast on the nose, spicy musk and toast. A little bit of esters. Medium bodied, sweet malt, floral notes and more yeast. Warm and spicy with a small amount of alcohol warming everything up. Finishes off with a long estery yeast note and a bit more spiciness. Very nice.

750mL bottle, pours a hazy golden orange with a small white head. Aroma of oranges, some light Belgian yeast, and light coriander. Flavour of coriander, banana and orange upfront, with a mild yeasty character. Nicely spicy and juicy saison. Solid stuff.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Capped 750 from Wine & Cheese in Clayton, MO. Pours hazy dark gold with a slight foamy off-white head. Aroma is a strange earthiness mixed with citrus. Med body. Itís earthy, and citrus, but it has a rather strong dose of phenolics. I donít think this is infection - not a nasty sour thing - but rather unusual. Maybe itís the rye reacting with the yeast.
