3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: JUN 22, 2011 Modiale 2007. A little white head on cloudy orange. Appealing aroma of spice and yeast. Taste is great, fortified with rye, a good saison in a great style. Sourness in the finish. Good medium plus mouthfee. Lace in the glass. Refreshing. Had it again in 2008 and was not as enticing.
Had it by bottle in 2011 and very ordinary farmhouse.

2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Tangy and tart yet sweet and yet unbalanced. A pretty messy beer, the yeast is there too adding sligth phenolics. Messy.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: JUN 10, 2013 2013-05-31. Hazy golden orange body with a nice white head and lace. Aroma is lightly grainy, pale malt, light grains, light sourness. 7+ Flavour is quite pleasant, moderate sourness, pale malt. 7+ Average bodied palate, pleasantly effervescent carbonation. 3+ Pretty nice. 7/4/7/3/15-16 3.7 Bottle at Mondial de la Biere 2013, Montreal
2008-05-31. Crisp golden body with a nice foamy off-white head. (3+) Aroma is mild, light alcohol kissed grass, hops. (6+) Pleasant zippy bitterness alludes to lemons, mild grass, pale malt. More lemon and grass in the finish lingers pleasantly. (7+) Smooth average palate suits the beer. Decent but not my favorite of their offerings. 6/4/7/3/15 - 3.5 On tap, Mondial, Montreal, 4T

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle. Effervescent and lightly hazed honey-colored body with a fine white head. Very Dupont-like nose. Citrus fruit, sugar / sugar cookie, peppercorns and phenols. Hoppier and sharper and closer to the recent Cuvée dry hopped batch. There’s a difficult to identify aroma that’s something like orange juice pulp, aromatic hop cones and bathsoap... it really seems to be the key to why the aroma works so well here. Medium body with soft and creamy carbonation, lots of tart, dried fruits, a silky, creamy but frothy and filling yeast character with natural carbonation to give it softness. Astonishing tartness and dryness in a beer that seemingly smells sugary and fruity. Crisp, quenching acid, medium+ bitterness, low sweetness, good acid, quaffable and flavorful. Mild hints of alcohol emerge after it breathes and warms.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: MAY 9, 2012 My Bottom Line:
Doughy yeast, orangey fruitiness, bready cereals and a tender spicy, herbal hop personality thrive within the cushy rye-infused mouthfeel.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A thick layer of foam laces generously atop the cloudy orange.
-The body’s creaminess is a bit overdone to achieve authenticity within its broad style, but it gives this brew a remarkable signature.
-From the nose to the aftertaste, everything exudes freshness.
-The hoppy finish sometimes personifies wet leaves.
-This is getting better and better; the bottle conditioning does wonders for the mouthfeel too.
Bottle, on tap at Vices et Versa and at Loup Rouge.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap. Pours a hazy amber gold with a white head that dissipates to the edges and laces slightly. Aroma has sweet grains and citrus up front with a nice complexity added by the backing rye and Belgian yeast. Flavor begins with sweet citrus and grains with a hint of flora and backed by rye and Belgian yeast.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle - Light peel, citrus and some weird meaty notes. Cloudy gold with a nice rich white head. That same odd meaty taste, with some citrus and a touch of peel. Not to my taste.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle, shared with Robbie. Very hazy straw yellow, lively white head. Very estery nose and palate, lacking significant hops, but this bottle may be old. Lightly spicy, chalky mouthfeel, dry finish. Not foul, but nothing stands out here.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap at Hopfenstark during their anniversary party. Pours a hazy golden amber with a thin to medium sized white head. Soft floral yeast on the nose, spicy musk and toast. A little bit of esters. Medium bodied, sweet malt, floral notes and more yeast. Warm and spicy with a small amount of alcohol warming everything up. Finishes off with a long estery yeast note and a bit more spiciness. Very nice.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle from City Beer. Pours murky golden with a decent white head and a sharp fruity aroma. There is a slightly sour fruit and light malt flavor, with a dry finish. Not much of a yeast presence and a bit light on flavor, but easy to drink.
