Draught (6 oz. sample) at Vices et Versa, Montreal. Hazy golden colour. Lovely aroma of herbs, apricot, and an odd hint of whiskey - probably from the rye. Flavour is quite herbal as well, with notes of orange and lemon, a faint yeasty funkiness, and a hint of pepper in the finish. Very nice!

Tap at Bond (1 block from DDC). Pours a slightly hazy deep golden with yeast or hop particles floating around- big lasting white head and solid lace. Aroma is earthy, musty, herbal hops, and good fresh bready malts and some cracker hints. Hoppy flavor with slight woodsy hint, herbal, and good bready light carapils anda drying easy going finish. Very nice easy drinking saison/belgian ale- the typical saison yeast character isnt really found here, but the beer is still real nice.

Tap at Spuyten Duyvil: Cloudy golden with an off white dense film of head. The aroma has some underlying rich bready malts- lightly sweet mild apricot notes- dryish/chalky phenols. Thick creamy carbonation. The flavor mixes spicy phenols & fruit skin bitterness. Light apricot/softly sweet- light bread crust and preserves followed by a light noble peppery presence and residual spicy phenols to dry it out. A nice, dry Saison.

A 25.4 ounce bottle acquired in a trade with MatrinT. Thanks. I shared this one with my brother. Sweet, musty, dusty yeast notes present with prenty of esters. This is not as sweet as the Hennepin that is also a part of this tasting. Mildly hazy honey colored body with a long-lasting medium white head. Starts a bit metallic with some astringency present as well. Some yeasty esters follow, which are not overbearing. Plenty of doughy flavors in the middle, followed by some nice husky, chewy, grainy flavors. This has a lightly grassy and metallic hop finish. Quality stuff.

Glass at brewery. Thick creamy white head. Big funky scent. Drinkable pepper and light lemon. Aftertaste is almost mushroom and a bit buttery.

On tap, Vices et Versa. Pours opaque gold with a white head. Wheaty nose. Body has intense clove and wheat, with a spicy, herbal finish. Palate remains pleasingly buttery throughout. Solid beer, if not stylistically overlapping with Belgian Whites.

Clear golden orange in colour with a thin white coloured head, light lacing. The aroma was of oranges, lemons, some spice, bread and yeast. The flavour has some grapefruit, moderate bitterness, lots of citrus, yeast, must and a bit of brett. Lightly bitter mouthfeel, medium body, medium/high carbonation. Finishes bitter, with yeast and spice.

This didn’t have as much grapefruit as the Station 10 that I just had but was a bit more intense in the flavour. Moderate amounts of alcohol at times, quite refreshing.

Draught at Mondial 2008, Montreal, Quebec.
Sampled on May 29, 2008.
