malrubius (967), Valley Stream, New York, USA Aug 28, 2009 BCTC. Many thanks to the incredible generosity of the RB crowd. Hazy yellow with head. Spicy sweet yeasty lemon aroma. Grapefruit lemon melon complex dry fruitiness with hoppy spicy dry finish. Nice soft dry palate. Very nice. I happen to like saisons like this. PilsnerPeter (2585), Flushing, New York, USA Aug 7, 2009 Bottle from the brewer shared with some folks at BCTC 2009: Pours a hazy orange with an off white head. The aroma is simple and dry- minerally, yeasty and with a citric hop note. Light crisp body. Some citric flavors from American style hops. One dimensional, but not bad. yobdoog (1417), Woodridge NY, New York, USA Aug 5, 2009 Aroma is light, crisp and spicy. Yeast and bready body. Balanced flavor with spices and some citrus and sweetness. Nice. Diogène (542), Gatineau, Quebec, Canada May 24, 2009 Draft. Hazy golden with a medium foamy head with good retention. Aroma is horse blanket, malt, herbs and spices. Flavor is acid with citrus and a hint of honey. Medium to full body. Fred82 (339), Montreal, Quebec, Canada May 21, 2009 750ml bottle. Poured orange-amber with a small white head. Head leaves great lacings. Retention is a bit short. Aroma is quite hoppy, spicy and notes of bubble gum. Taste is bitter, spicy and notes of buble gum and a bit bretty. It feels like a saison mixed with a english bitter. Bitterness is persistent on the finish. Carbonation is very present and good. quite interesting beer. Will taste it on tap someday. Rating #123 DYCSoccer17 (2187), Davis, California, USA May 2, 2009 Another 750mL bottle acquired in a trade with MartinT. Thanks! I shared this with my brother. Aroma is a bit citrussy with some floral notes as well. A little barnyardy and a bit sweet. Lightly metallic aroma that is very quaffable. Very hazy golden orange body with a large, frothy white head that leaves nice lacing. Starts a little sweeter with much more citrus orange flavor to start than the #16. Becomes nice and spicy with some good yeastiness. Finishes with more grassy and spicy notes. I like this more than the 16, although both are solid brews. radiomgb (1920), Peterborough, Ontario, Canada Feb 15, 2009 Updated: Feb 16, 2009Cloudy orange in colour with a large white coloured head, excellent lacing. The aroma is slightly sour with lots of orange citrus, musty, yeasty, pepper. The flavour is sour, lots of orange citrus again, moderate bitterness, yeasty, some tartness comes through at times. Bitter citrus mouthfeel, medium body, medium/high carbonation. Finishes long, orange zest, musty.
This is an excellent saison, the best of the 3 that I tried at Mondial. Full of flavour and very well balanced, awesome mouthfeel.
Draught at Mondial 2008, Montreal, Quebec.
Sampled on May 30, 2008.
tiggmtl (4307), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Jan 14, 2009 Pineapple and mango fruity esters are joined by peppery spiciness and orange/grapefruit citrus and pine hop notes in the aroma. Very hazy orange-tinged golden body topped by a very eager and strong, fluffy white head that lasts well and leaves some lacing. Nice toasted honey malt character up front is joined by succulent tropical fruits, peppery spiciness and plenty of citrus. Bitterness is quite pronounced and there is a tartness to the background flavour that emerges more as it warms. Medium body with strong, pointy carbonation. Definitely offers characteristics of both IPA and Saison and blends them together very nicely. Tulip glass. Cellar temperature. Bottle purchased at the brewery tasting room. Nov-08.
