COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

(bottle) pours a hazy amber colour with a frothy white head. aroma of cactus juice, herbal hops and light maracuja, with notes of caramel and light straw. flavour is mostly the same, with a very light hint of butter, vanilla and a slightly minerally finish. medium to heavy-bodied with average carbonation.

Bottle @ ZBF 2013.
Pours muddy pale yellow with a small, creamy, white head. Aroma has peach, pine, yeast, light grainy and some pomegranate. Medium carbonation, fine dry and quite creamy mouthfeel yet also kinda thin. Flavour is okay, malty, light caramel, piney and citrussy. A bit of apple. Medium bitterness. A tad boring.

330ml bottle (Punavuoren Ahven, Helsinki)
Maybe the previous hop-bomb has killed my palate, but this is relatively bland. Sticky hop aroma, a fair bit of alcohol and heady esters too. Nice orange, can be poured clear, but the yeast comes over early, so take care. Small tight white head. Simple Belgian blonde body, but with a huge emphasis on the hops. Bitingly bitter, but not in a way that is well integrated with the overall taste. Too much alcohol in the mouth too. Numbs the mouth, but it’s not an interesting or welcome sensation. Something watery about it too, oddly. Had to fight to finish the bottle, and didn’t like having to ingest so much alcohol in the process. This has cut my will to tick more beers today. Basically an unexceptional belgian ale with a pile of additional biting bitter hops. Meh. And too much alcohol.

33 cl. bottle procured @ ALBO. Cap says 04/2014 – maybe this is fresh – this BBF dates tell me little honestly, this might as well be 3 years old for all I know. Bright golden with a very creamy white head, collapsing. Light sweet, caramel with fruity USA hops, citrus, orange peel, mandarin (bitter), light grapefruit,… Bitter grapefruit blended with some sweetness, toffee, caramel, bitter citrus and mandarine and orange peel, light spices and some esters. Somewhat grainy and creamy body. Reminds me a bit of Duvel Triple hop which is probably what they were going for – pretty nice hybrid. Quite a lot of carb. – bit odd to drink a hoppy beer this heavy but interesting hybrid still…

Bottled. Pours cloudy orange in color with small white head. Fruity citrus mostly in aroma, some cellar and yeasty notes as well. Orange peel and light spicyness in taste. A bit in the direction of a tripel. Slightly yeasty and grassy bitter in aftertaste.

Bottle at home. Hazy golden pour, huge foamy white head. Aroma of spicy, fruity hops, somewhat chemical, peppery and with a hint of licorice and resin. Flavor is bitter, spicy and fruity, full bodied and with huge carbonation. Nice brew, but a bit rough.

Bottle. Light orange with sediment in bottle. Malty, a bit orangy-apricot- hoppy on nose. Body is bitter, quite nicely full. Some greenish hoppyness, malts. Fruity, nice belgian ipa.
