COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
While normaly pilsners are filtered, this beer is not, and therefore it is, strictly speaking, a KELLERBIER (taken from the cellar while still hazy). Easy to drink and pairs with most food.

Keg at Hopmonk, Sonoma, 28/04/14. Clear light golden with a moderate off white covering, carbonation well evident. Nose is malt forward, bready pangs, light citrus, grain, straw, fresh clean aromas. Taste comprises pale malts, grass, lemon rind, light bread dough. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Decent crisp clean kellerbier.

UPDATED: JAN 7, 2014 On tap @ Hopmonk Sebastopol. Slightly hazed light orange pour with a white head. Bready malt, some grass, and floral hops. Light esters, mostly apple, and a hint of citrus peel. Flavor is fairly bitter. Mild sweetness and some bread flavor. Grass and floral hops with hints of citrus. Not exactly what I was expecting.

This is a very well done pilsner. It has a cloudy golden color due to it being unfiltered. It is very refreshing. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

A good beer for a pilsner. Pours a boring clear yellow. Smells sweet and wheaty. Taste is refreshing, light with a slight bite. Had on tap at the Brewery. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On tap at the Sabastol location. Hits the style with a slightly coriander spicy taste. Nothing special though drinkable. A sour edge finish takes away from taste. Served too cold. Medium bodied and a mild hoppyness, with above average sweetness. Clear coloured, and slightly cheesy aroma.

Big pour at hopmonk. Frothy white head. Golden. Good wheat and heff taste. Above average ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours gold. Not much haze, if any. Pours gold. Aroma is mildly bready with a nice grassiness. Tastes pretty much like that. It’s a very good lager.

My Bottom Line:
This crisp and herbal Kellerbier focuses on its slender pils malts and spicy noble hops to offer a quenching pint.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A slice of foam tops the cloudy blond.
-This may not be as bright as what the Franconians tend to do, but it is a very quenching and cohesive example of this family of beers.
-This is as effervescent as some bottled examples. The Franconians would have it a tad mellower, mostly due to not using other gases than the beer’s own.
-A touch of sulphur slowly disappears from the aroma.
-The hops are also grassy at times.

On tap at Hopmonk Tavern.

Draft at the Tavern. Pale gold, slight turbidity, with tall white head, some lacing. Bergamot and bready notes mostly mask a twinge of funk. Dry,forward bitterness and a pithy middle. Finish is a little tart. This beer favors warmer seasons, but a nice utility beer overall.

A blonde beer with a thick white head. In aroma, a very wild weed, citrusy and nice. In mouth, nice resinous lager, with very nice pungeant Saaz hops, mineral notes, intense and pleasing. My favorite. On tap at brewpub, August 16 2009.
