A throwback to pre-prohibition ales, Drafty Window Farmhouse Ale embraces the spirit and craft of the prairie states, but with much of the “farmhouse funk” formulated out. With a focus on locally grown ingredients from the Midwest, this golden ale is complex, spicy and quaffable. Look for it at your favorite retailer or restaurant. Pours slightly hazy butterscotch gold with brief frothy white head. Nice malty aroma with a hint citrus, slightly musty. Flavors of ginger with orange peel on medium malt frame. Palate is lightly chewy. Overall very nice, a lot of finesse and subtly without getting heavy, refreshing.

355ml twist off. Golden pour, somewhat creamy head. Smell is minhas assmalt soda. Flavor is spices, booze, just overal harshness. Does not resemble a saison.

Ew. Not really a Saison. Kind if stinky, rotty tasting. Would Not have again.

This pours an orange bodied brew with a scrawny bubbly head that’s little more than a film. It smells fruity, cherries with an apple slice, and has some burnt light brown sugar. It’s watery and the light flavor is mildly fruity with a soft earthy bitterness. The finish is watery. "Drafty Window" somehow fits.

Poured a clear copper color with a fine head and minimal lacing. Aroma was of prune-like sweet fruits/malt. Taste is similar with a sweet malty front end followed with a slight prune flavoring and a light hop bitterness finish. Palate is decent. Overall, an OK farm house ale.

12 oz bottle pours a hazy copper/amber with a small white head and this lacing. Not a big fan of this one. Funky sweet with a lingering metallic finish. First and last one of these.

12oz bottle 8/8/14 (Woodman’s-Waukesha Mix A Six)-42° in Tulip-Pours a hazy golden orange with a small white covering for a head. Aroma of yeast, funk, citrus, hops, spices, and grass. Taste of yeast, spices, hops, and slight malt. This light bodied brew is not bad but a bit mild for a Saison.

12oz bottle, thanks to Caterwaul. Shared with b3shine. Mostly clear golden orange color. Thin off-white ring of head. Loose bits of lace. Quickly fades to nothing. Some metallic mustiness in the nose; bread. Light caramel malt, some butterscotch. Hints of mango. Some honey. Weird. Kind of musty and metallic. Lightly spicy. More dry finish. Smooth, kind of crisp, kind of soft lighter carbonation. A bit slick. Moderate sweet taste. Light to moderate bitter. Sort of musty, funky. Bit of skunk. Odd, and not in a good farmhouse way. In a skunky, old-beer macro kind of way. Over-sweet, and a bit sticky. Not a fan.

Bottle to snifter (shared by DrSilverworm). Looks solid; a transparent golden orange with thin white head that steadily dissipates into lacing. Smells solid too; honey with some notes of yeast. Tastes like it smells, but less complex. Average on the palate. A bit sweet and syrupy for the style, but decent nonetheless.

I guess it’s a semi valiant effort at a saison. I can tell from the various aspects what they’re trying to do, but just barely. Considering the brewery’s history, I can imagine that this is an effort to make beer that is just good enough in the least expensive way - and it seems that way. Whether it’s the aroma, the flavor, the appearance, body, or finish, they all have the suggestion of a saison, and nothing more. Not bad beer. Nor good.
