COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is the 3rd. Collaboration Brew from this year’s European Tour Series, and was developed with Amager Brewery in Copenhagen, Denmark. At 7.8% abv, it is rich, hoppy and balanced. Frog Hops is made with an abundance of English and German malts, including the super-tasty German chocolate malt! And it is hopped with select American hops, including dry-hopping. tectactoe (3075) - Michigan, USA - MAR 9, 2014
Bottle: Thanks, Kevin! Silky black body, looks pretty thick & viscous; slowly rising, micro-bubble tan-mocha head sits chunky on top. Aroma has notes of mocha & bitter chocolate, bitter roast, & a light undercurrent of sweet cream. Equal parts anise & boozy licorice show up, too, almost akin to Jagermeister. Finish of dates & roast in the back-end. Taste includes bitter cocoa powder, mocha chocolates, roasted malt, & a slight floral twinge mid-palate (assuming this is from the hops?). Aftertaste is more dark-fruity with notes of prunes & figs; relatively sweet finish compared to the bitterness of the front end. Slight boozy & mild acetone-like notes with warmth, surprising for only being 7.8% ABV. Decent brew, though there’s no reason to ever choose this over BORIS.

Bottle. Pour is black with a two-finger wide tan head. Aroma is of chocolate covered raisins, roasted barley, and rye. Flavor is sweet upfront - cocoa nibs, vanilla bean, espresso. Finish is rye and English grain. Chocolate cake lingers in the aftertaste.

Bottle picked up at the brewery. Pours jet black motor oil, big light brown head recedes to a dense ring. Raisins, cocoa nibs, some dank herbal and coffee hints on the nose. Big malty, coffee dryness, roast and some resinous hops. Rich body. The wheat character added and interesting aspect to the body and flavor profile. Solid ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Thanks to errl for sharing this bottle. Dark brown pour with a tan head. The aroma has some wheat and chocolate notes. The flavor is very similar. I get some chocolate and roasted malt notes as well as some wheat. Medium carbonation and thick mouthfeel.

Bottle:   Black, small to moderate frothy beige head, little lacing.   Chocolate malt and oatmeal on the nose.   Big and somewhat sweet.   Smooth, a bit wheaty on the tongue, big roasty backside.   Lots of dark chocolate and roast, did I mention smooth on the tongue.   Smooth, but not too heavy.   A little dry in the finish, dark chocolate, oatmeal, and a big wheat body.   Low hops too.   Enjoyable, one that is easy to drink an entire bomber despite the fact I shared this with 4 other people.

Bottle, 22oz. It pours a pitch black body and a dense, tan head of moderate size. The aroma is roasted and chocolate-ish, with some licorice hints. A pleasant hoppyness too, and then even more chocolate. Citrus peel hints. The flavor has cocoa, dark chocolate, coffee, roasted malts, some licorice hints and a fine hoppyness. Some sweetness. Full body, semi-dry and faintly warming. The finish is roasted, with cocoa, chocolate and a little hoppy bitterness. A really pleasant one, well worth a revisit if I can find it again. 131228

22oz bottle. Opaque pitch black body, rusty beige head. The aroma isn’t super pronounced...kind of a neutralized mix of caramel, chocolate, wheat. Really enjoyable beer, lots of depth...takes Imperial Stout in a unique direction. At 7.8%, I’m having trouble thinking of it as imperial, but it certainly has the big, rich, hefty chocolate tones..big malt depth. Big cocoa black chocolate tones. The wheat is there, adding depth, but I probably wouldn’t catch it if I wasn’t told..adds to the dry finish. I really like how the Danes seem to be able to make drinkable Imperial Stouts. Minty chocolate specialty malt tones, not unlike a Black IPA. Really enjoyable beer, nails it.
