Bomber from Sendiks in Brookfield. Pours a very dark brown with a brownish head. Almost no lacing. Aroma has chocolate, caramel and molasses with a definitive slightly spicy wheat presence. Taste is of sweet cocoa, lots of roasted malt and some bakers chocolate providing nice bitterness. Dry and smoothly bittersweet. This is quite tasty. Would categorize as a stout as it does not have the imperial depth. Very enjoyable offering.

Bottle. Pour is a deep brown that looks pretty thick. The beer had a nice deep head of tan foam and stouty aromas that are smokier and more licorice based than many Imperial Stouts. The smoke is a peat and then almost charcoal smell and the licorice goes along nicely. First sip reveals that this is a pretty acrid beast. The bitterness is biting and sharp, almost like an espresso. Alcohol is warm and seems maybe a little more robust than the 7.8% that is on the bottle. I should really have a Boris to sample side by side with this one...

Bottle 65 cl. Pours an opaque pitch black with a creamy, light brown head. Sweet and chocolatey roast aroma, quite some vanilla also. Medium body, very mellow and smooth with a ton of chocolate notes while the roast is very downplayed. Doesn’t appear all that much of an Imperial Stout though. Sweeter, smoother and more creamy than the Amager version. A delight. 290113

Appearance: pours dark brown and no head.

Aroma: Dark chocolate, citrusy hops. Lots of orange.

Taste: Grapefruit hops, pepper dark chocolate, cold espresso.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied. Average carbonation.

Overall: A great hoppy stout. This and the second of the series were very strong showings. I would drink this fresh if given the choice, so snatch it up now.

Bomber shared with Alex on moving day, 2013/01/27. Big beer. Deep opaque dark brown color with a dense, rocky, creamy, dark brown head; covering remains all the way down the glass; light to medium lacing. Aroma of chocolate, coffee, caramel and vanilla, roast., possibly oak (?). Flavor only slightly less impressive; chocolate, coffee, floral hops, caramel. Feels thick and chewy; carbonation isn’t quite silky but definitely not fizzy. I’m struggling with whether this one truly deserves the full 4.0 score, but it’s at least close, and, overall, very good.

Bomber. Pours pitch black with a nice small frothy head that lingers a bit. Pretty good lacing. Aromas are chocolate, ash, and smoke with some floral, grassy, and spicy hops. Taste is slightly bitter chocolate mixed with burnt wood and light smoke. Hops come out nicely in finish, floral and spicy. Finish is creamy too. Fairly thick mouthfeel and somewhat chewy. A really nice imperial stout.
