U.S Meets Europe S.I.P.A. - Collaborating with De Molen Brewery in the "Green Heart" of The Netherlands, we have created a wild and inventive recipe that is a unique blend of the best from both worlds! A super-charged Saison I.P.A. is born, featuring kilos of American hops to add a crazy twist to this European-style ale. The fruity, spicy flavors of this malty Double Saison are nicely complimented by an abundance of late and dry-hopping with the finest American hops.

This is the Hoppin’ Frog version, for the De Molen version go to that brewery’s page.

Bottle shared with my good friend Niels. Lightly unclear reddish color, average to medium sized off-white head. Aroma is malts, pretty sweet, some alcohol and some hops. Taste malts, sweet, some alcohol, some hops, some overripe fruits. Pretty nice! Medium to full body, medium carbonation. I quite like it! Though it doesn’t taste like a saison nor an IPA. To me it’s more like a hoppy quadrupel.

650ml bottle. Clear, wonderful copper colour with small, frothy, fairly lasting, moderately lacing, off-white to beige head. Yeasty, minimally bretty, funky, floral aroma, hints of long drop, urinal cake, bath salt, sugary artificial lemon, minimally vinous, caramal malty undertones, a touch of hibiscus and rose hip. Taste is initially sweet, fruity, caramel malty and resinous hoppy, floral, notes of orange, orange zest, mandarine, candied lemon, red berry juicy, hints of hibiscus and rose hip; oily texture, soft, sticky palate. Very rich and complex, a harmonious composition of all-matching flavours; exuberant, double-IPAic, floral Imperial Saison. If I only had another one cellared.

Poured a Ruby red color with an off white head. Aroma was of dark fruit sounds, some fruity hops, some funk, booze and caramel. Flavor similar, not really saisiny but unique Ans intruiging.

22 oz bottle from notes (Sept/Oct 2012). Pours a clear amber color with a small off white head. The aroma and flavor have caramel, bready malts, sweet, grass, some resiny notes, spices, some alcohol. This was hot, Kind of all over the place with flavors, I meant to lay one down to check on later, but forgot.

Backlog rating on 10-20-2012 at Fort Wayne RateBeer Gathering. This bottled beer provided by jsquire has a small beige head, transparent body, very little carbonation observed, and spotty amounts of lacing. The aroma is citrus hops, spicy and fruity. The flavor is citrus hops, lightly bitter, sugary, spicy, and fruity. The mouthfeel is light carbonation and this beer is medium bodied. Overall, the hops are upfront, but not overly so. This beer is worth trying.

0.65l bottle brought home from Cask Pub & Kitchen. Well it looks really nice in the glass with a light cloudy almost glowing deep golden body. It also has a small to medium sized off-white head with good retention and some nice lacing capabilities. Really enjoy the first inhale on the nose. Reminds me of fruity soap. A ton of lovely hops just rushes in the nose. Lots of piney tones, a strong sticky malt sweetness with old grapefruit, citrus, defrosting strawberries and yeast. Damn, strange thing, the aroma develops for each sniff. Oh my this is sweet! Super almost cloying and sticky as hell. Soft to near flat on the carbonation and it’s just like drinking fruity sugar water almost in the mouth. A ton of defrosted fruity strawberries in the taste also. It’s bitter in a old hoppy way. Yeast, melon and honey syrup finishes it off. Could easily have been a nutty American barley wine this. This is way over the top most likely, and since it’s evolving both in the aroma and in the taste, I’m quite glad I got a chance to try this creation. 18.11.2013

Pulled this out of my beer cellar, 19 months old. First I was overwhelmed with the aroma. It was fantastic with a slight hop and strong honey scent. Appearance is a clear golden red amber with a 1 finger light tan head. Taste is sweet honey and orange with a slight remnant of the saison it once was. Palate is smooth and slightly syrup like with just the right amount of carbonation. If you have one of these you are aging give it a try. You will not be disappointed.

Aged 19 months from a bomber into a Hoppin Frog snifter an amber orange with a thin beige head that left soon... Aroma is sweet orange. Floral. Slight funk. Flavor is off the map incredible. Tangy sweet citrus. Fruity. Touch of spice. The sweetness is so fine. An all star event here. The funk of a saison is there but the balance of the sweetness with some light bitter hops keeps this brew an IPA like none other. Blessed to have one bottle left laying down.

Appearance: Clear copper/ruby with no head. Aroma: Apricot, pine, resinous, syrup, citrus, hint of Brett, hint of citrus, raisin, dried fig and spice. Taste: High sweetness, low bitterness and low/medium sourness. Palate: Thick coarse texture, medium body, no/low carbonation, lingering sweet liquorice, dried fruit, spicy, fruity finish with alcohol warmth. Comments: Tasty reminds me more of a liqueur than a saison or an IPA due to the syrupy sweetness.
