Fortunate is he, who in the name of brewing and good beer, shepherds the weak through the valley of macrobrews. For he is truly his brother’s keeper, and the finder of lost taste buds. Stout aged in Whiskey barrels.

22oz bottle from OakedCanuck. Thanks! A: Opaque black. Very thin lacing. Not bad. N: Oak, heaps of chocolate, a little coffee roastiness, and some nice vanilla flavor. T: Tons of fudge and roasted espresso flavor. Dark prune.Oatmeal lends some nice flavor to the proceedings. If you hadn’t told me this was barrel aged, I wouldn’t have noticed, however. M: Best thing about this beer. Extremely smooth with a great oily feel. Touch of alcohol. O: A good BA stout that is both too expensive and not high enough in the top tier to do much more than recommend a split bottle.

Getting some big chocolate and whiskey scents with a bit of vanilla. If it is really aged in CR barrels, I am not getting much except for the vanilla. Still an excellent brew! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

22 ounce bottle pours a dark black color aromas of light roast, loads of chocolatey fudge, some whisky, and some vanilla. Flavors are the same, blended nicely. Nice boozy whisky finish with some fudge thrown in.

Pours thick black coffee oil in color with a very small beige head. The aroma vanilla whiskey and some chocolate, but almost no booze making it smooth in the nose. The flavor brings some hot whiskey notes blended with light almost sweet dark chocolate notes and roasted malts.

Bottle at Dadtoberfest. Pours near black with a beige head. Roasted malts, whiskey, caramel sweetness, brown sugar, and light smoky notes. Just a touch too boozy, but still really good.

big thanks to Matt for sharing this bottle: this is my jam: an impy stout that tastes like a sweet stout. Thick chocolate malts, toasted barley flavor. Packed with molasses and brown sugar and lots of complex fruity notes. Finishes pretty hot so sip this.

Bottle at home. Pours jet black with a small brown head. The aroma is hard roasted malt, chocolate, oak, light peat, coffee and some liquorice. The flavour has the classic BORIS soft oat like feel with some sweet whiskey added. Notes of hard roasted malt, chocolate and liquorice. Great!

Bottle at the Dadtoberfest at Jdadmond’s Dad Pad. Pours a deep dark black with the faintest hint of a tan head, but barely noticeable. Big fat chocolate, cocoa, roast, a lot of sweet malt, a touch of sweetness. Medium bodied, cocoa, chocolate, warm malt and a good bit of hot alcohol. Lingering alcohol, warm chocolate, malt, roast, booze. Too big and boozy. Sweet and a bit hard to drink. Tasty, but challenging.
