Fortunate is he, who in the name of brewing and good beer, shepherds the weak through the valley of macrobrews. For he is truly his brother’s keeper, and the finder of lost taste buds. Stout aged in Whiskey barrels.

Bottle @ Stephen’s place. Pours a black appearance with a thin brown head. Dark fruity, plum, anise, chocolate aroma. Thick chocolate, tangy dark fruity, mild whiskey, a bit chewy, light caramel flavor. Tasty stuff.

Pour out of 22 oz bottle, big thanks to Aaron for the pour! Dark brownish black pour with tan head, aroma brought notes of ots of caramel, toffee, molasses, hints of dark chocolate, biscuit, touch of earth, nice barrel notes as well. Taste is a mix of chocolate, coffee, roast, nice molasses, slight dark fruit, hints of oak, bourbon and whiskey notes, finishing fairly sweet, hints of bitter, dry.

Back log. Enjoyed at a tasting with some local beer buddies 2 weeks ago. Solid beer. Roasted malt and oak on the nose. Hint of vanilla and booze on the finish.

22 oz. bottle, sent from StFun (thanks a lot, Josh), pours black with a small light brown / tan head. Aroma of whiskey barrels, roasted malt, and a bit of dry cocoa. Flavour is the same, with moderate whiskey barrels that characterize the palate, with wood, roasted malt and some dry cocoa. Complex and whiskey-dominated, but not too boozy. Excellent stuff, but not my favourite of the BORIS variations.

This bottled brew from a bottle shop poured a small sized head of foamy bubbles that were and left behind a no visible carbonation opaque dark black brown colored body and an excellent lacing. The aroma was brown malt vanilla and woody. The mouth feel was tingly at the start and strongly tingly at the finish with a strong vinous biting hoppy aftertaste. The flavor contained notes of roasted malt and toasted malt. A wonderful best in class brew.

Bottle as shown at Camp Beer. Pours a very dark brown with a small tan head that quickly diminishes to nothing. The aroma is bourbon oak and roast. Medium mouthfeel with a subtle oak and vanilla with toast and nice boozy finish. A very good Imperial stout from Hoppin Frog.

Bottle supplied by fermentedfiend, thanks! Passed around on Black Friday, Scottsdale. Pours black. Smallish khaki head atop. Smells and tastes of sorghum molasses, Cognac heat, maple syrup-soaked oak, hops and dark chocolate. Intense booze with yeast, by swallow.

22oz bottle. Pours a dark brown cola color with a small tan head (even with agitation). The aroma has dark roasted malts and some coffee, wood, dark fruit with a mild to moderate whiskey note. The flavor has roasted malts, light sweet dark fruits, black coffee, wood, whiskey with a slight hint of tobacco. Medium plus body and fairly smooth considering this does get a touch boozy at times.

22oz bottle from OakedCanuck. Thanks! A: Opaque black. Very thin lacing. Not bad. N: Oak, heaps of chocolate, a little coffee roastiness, and some nice vanilla flavor. T: Tons of fudge and roasted espresso flavor. Dark prune.Oatmeal lends some nice flavor to the proceedings. If you hadn’t told me this was barrel aged, I wouldn’t have noticed, however. M: Best thing about this beer. Extremely smooth with a great oily feel. Touch of alcohol. O: A good BA stout that is both too expensive and not high enough in the top tier to do much more than recommend a split bottle.

Getting some big chocolate and whiskey scents with a bit of vanilla. If it is really aged in CR barrels, I am not getting much except for the vanilla. Still an excellent brew! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
