Deep dark brown head, changes quick into a thick brown lacing on top of a pitch black beer.
Looks very good.
Smell oatmeal, coffee, cream
Taste is very thick but not complex, but than again a good very well balanced and full tasty mix of roasted barleys, coffee, chocolate, roast, oatmeal, cream, extremely well balanced, but not complex.
Aftertaste is nice wood, chocolate, cream and even a bit of soya but so well balanced.
Low carbo, soft almost silky mouthfeel, full round body and one hell of a sticky creamy texture.
Very good beer! Took a plate of chocolate with this beer, suits eachother very well. A very very well balanced beer, smooth, soft, creamy and full.

Thanks to someone for sharing at bu11zeye’s 10,000th rating tasting.
The beer pours a dark brown to black color with a brown head. The aroma has a lot of chocolate in it, as well as some roasted malt, bourbon and oak. The flavor is very similar. I get a lot of chocolate and whiskey notes, as well as some oak, vanilla and maple. You can really get the barrel-aged notes in the beer and they compliment the other components very nicely. Thick mouthfeel and medium carbonation. A very nice stout.

22oz. bottle. Got this one for Christmas. Aroma of rich dark malts, dark chocolate sweetness, cream, faint bourbon and vanilla, wood and some very slight red grape. Solid brown/black color with a nearly non-existent head. Flavor profile is full of dark chocolate and very lightly roasted malts, assisted by a light wash of bourbon, vanilla, licorice and a tinge of alcohol and toffee towards the finish. Smooth, lightly warming, thick and viscous on the palate, with a hugely full body. Enjoyable.

In bottle. A black beer with a lacy tan head. Aroma of coffee, dark chocolate, Bourbon and oak. Similar flavours with bitter coffee, Bourbon and oak again. Alcohol is fairly present with moderate carbonation, light CO2 prickle and a foamy mouth-feel. Lovely. Bourbon is quite present all round.

3rd January 2010
Opaque black beer, thin chocolate coloured head. Minerally dark malt nose. Softish semi dry palate, light and airy. Dark malt with subtle notes of barrelling and chocolate. A little alcohol presence too subtle to be reliably called bourbon. This complexity comes without roastiness and bitterness making it a refined beer. A little subtle bubblegum and banana sweetness in the finish.

Bottle thanks to unclemike: pours an oily opaque with a small creamy beige head. Has a sweet dark caramel and milk chocolate nose with good vanilla bourbon notes. Starts with pretty good fullness and sweet dark malts with some oatmeal and a touch of raisins and light bourbon complexity before a drier roasted finish with some lingering dark chocolate. Could use a little more sweetness, but is dangerously drinkable.

UPDATED: JUN 7, 2012 (Bottle) Pours black with a brown head. The aroma holds tart dark chocolate and whisky up front with undertones of dark grainy bread, vanilla, asphalt, leather, earth, jam, gravel, and a touch of dark fruit. Vinous and port-like on the nose. The flavour is light to medium sweet, near medium bitter and tiny acidic with notes of vanilla, whisky, complex/deep roast, liquorice, subtle flavour hops, touch of dark fruits, port, leather, earth, jam and tobacco. The mouthfeel is silky, velvety, round and light sticky with a soft carbonation. Earth, tobacco, liquorice, dark berries and light leathery oxidation on the finish. Light boozy. Medium to full bodied.
