Opaque black beer, thin chocolate coloured head. Minerally dark malt nose. Softish semi dry palate, light and airy. Dark malt with subtle notes of barrelling and chocolate. A little alcohol presence too subtle to be reliably called bourbon. This complexity comes without roastiness and bitterness making it a refined beer. A little subtle bubblegum and banana sweetness in the finish.

Bottle, 22oz. It has a dark tan head of moderate size over a very dark brown body looking clear. Mostly coffee, chocolate and some licorice in the aroma, with some woody hints and alcohol. Really, really smooth on the palate, full-bodied, dryish and coffeeish and yet sweetish. Lots of flavors, really nice, but it still sort of feels like it could use more complexity. Anyway, it’s a nice and tasteful and certainly one I could drink more of. 111105
