4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: AUG 31, 2013 First off, let this shit warm up. It is waaaay better. Aromatics - lots of chocolate, mild oatmeal and some vanilla. It all melds together very well. I like! Appearance - pours straight jet black with an nice tan light head. Taste - Palate - Is super oily and viscous. When you swish it you can taste the seperate melding of each individual parts, BORIS, barrels, alcohol, etc. Overall - This is damn good. Damn good.

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
22 ounce bottle into snifter, 2011 bottling. Pours dense pitch black color with a small dark tan head with good retention, that reduces to a thin lace that lingers. Slight spotty lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of big dark chocolate, roasted malt, light char, bourbon, oak, clove, toast, toffee, vanilla, coffee, oatmeal, and roasted earthiness. Incredible aromas with big complexity and great balance of roasted malt notes with barrel character; and big strength. Taste of big dark chocolate, roasted malt, coffee, light char, bourbon, vanilla, oak, toffee, clove, toast, oatmeal, and roasted earthiness. Slight roasted bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of dark chocolate, roasted malt, coffee, light char, bourbon, oak, vanilla, toast, clove, toffee, oatmeal, and roasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Absolutely incredible complexity and balance of roasted malt and barrel flavors; with an amazing barrel/malt balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Light carbonation and very full bodied; with a very creamy and slick mouthfeel that is fantastic. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a small warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is an absolutely insane barrel aged imperial stout with a couple years of age. All around amazing complexity and balance of roasted malt and barrel character flavors; and very smooth to sip on for the ABV. A world class imperial stout offering for sure.

4.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle from Systembolaget, 2011 vintage.
Pours pitch black with a brown film instead of a head.
Aroma overwhelms with whiskey and barrel charachter, as well as heavily roasted malt and a lot of coffee, some alcohol. Whiskey takes a bit over hand.
Taste has dark chocolate, roasted malt, fine coffee, portwine notes as well as liquor drenched plums. Alcohol is well hidden.
Mouth feel is thick and smooth, full bodied, low carbonation.
After taste has dark bitter chocolate.
Really great stout but I think that the aroma is to much infused with whiskey barrel notes that the stout character is a bit over shadowed.

4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottle. Pours a pitch black with a very minimal chocolate head. Strong coffee scents and malt undertones. Excellent taste with none of the typical stout heaviness or chalky after taste. One of the best stouts I have ever had.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Dark blackish color, brown head, good lacing. Chocolate, toffee, some dried fruits, very appealing. More coffee bitterness in the flavor, barrel aging is evident which gives it the effect of booziness but in a good way, tobacco in there too. Very good.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Poured from a cold bottle. Thick dark brown color almost black, tan head. Sweet malt smell, light caramel accents. Alcohol content pops out immediately, whiskey blends with the roasted malt. I honestly don’t see why its rated so high?
