4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
2013 Bottle. 2/9/2013. Excellent. Pours like motor oil; black with a thin, oily dark brown head. Aroma is cereal, chocolate, coffee, vanilla, earth, wood, molasses. Taste is phenomenal; chocolate, dark fruit, touch of soy, creamy, nutty, oats, coffee, brown sugar, with a bitter-sweet espresso finish. Low carbonation. Very little lacing. This smelled and tasted wonderful. Very drinkable but with so much character. This is a must have if you see it available.

Tap at CBC 2014. Beer in the glass deep black, small head. Starts heavy malty, woody, spicy, notes of pepper. More and more earthy malty. Warming-malty finish. Nice!

Bottle from Hop City, Atlanta. Pours a dark brown/black. Nos roasty chocolate, oatmeal. Big and lovely. Body fluid, soy sauce bites hard booze, roasted to the max. Woof! I can dig it but this is intense.

22oz bottle pours dark rich black brown with thin tan head. Nose is big roasty dark fruity bourbon, raisin, peanut, bitter dark chocolate. Taste is super smooth creamy mouthfeel, nutty bitter chocolate, vanilla notes, peant butter chocolate, raisin, dark fruity balanced bourbon. Finish is bitter sticky semi sweet boozy spice chocolate nut bar and cocoa. Great stuff.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Small taster at Zeebra Festival.
Another totally black beer with a thin dark brown head, average retention, light lacing on the glass.
Aroma has lots of bourbon and wood, alcohol, light vanilla, a bit of oats.
Taste of dark roasted malts, bourbon, ash, wood, light vanilla, some chocolate.
Medium thick body with good carbonation, sticky but also very dry palate.
Overall a great beer, barrel aging it surely enhanced it.

très marqué par la vanille et surtout la coco, sinon c’est bien concentré, pas trop sucré, avec une amertume qui passe facilement. Mais trop de coco pour moi.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pitch black with a thin dark brown head. Smells strongly of whiskey and a hint of vanilla with cocoa powder. Alcoholic whiskey-caramel punch on the front end that quickly mellows out into coffee, chocolate, and vanilla. Body is thick but not syrupy; leaves tongue tingling on the finish. Good stuff.

'11 vintage. Pours a very black no head appearance. Aroma is chocolate, bourbon, Smooth creamy mouthfeel. Taste is more chocolate with vanilla notes. Bourbon is present but somewhat in the background and not over the top. 3 yrs might have something to so with that. This beer is very very good. Overall the taste is awesome all notes are present but none are over bearing. A powerful but yet mellow sipper. Well done and highly recommended.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
pours black, thin tan head, nice lacing. Aroma whiskey, roasty, bready, caramel and toffee, dark fruit. Taste roast, coffee, whiskey, caramel and toffee and dark fruit. Mouthfeel full body, lower carbonation, alcohol heat and astringency, creamy, sweet finish. Overall fantastic, the barrel aging really helps this beer!
