COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Made from our award-winning imperial stout, rated one of the top 50 best beers in the world in 2008. This bodacious oatmeal Russian imperial stout will crush you like no other. This is the grand-daddy of all stout styles, with an intensely deep roasted and full bodied flavor. A robust hop character adds a refreshing balance. Aged in Heaven Hill Whiskey barrels.

Pours thick dark black with minimal caramel colored head. Smell is deep and dark. Taste is rich with dark, coffee and chocolate roasted malts, citrus hops, earthy wood, booze and all flavors dark. Full bodied. Drawn out after taste with complex flavors. Balanced with the oak, not over done, I like that. Very intense stout.

650ml bottle shared in a snifter. Black pour with a tan head - a mal amount of light is able to travel through the edges. Aroma is Whiskey dominated with the vanilla notes and stout coming distant second and third respectively. Mouthfeel is not as thick as I had hoped particularly as this is an oatmeal imperial stout. Taste wise this is a solid effort but the ABV is so clearly evident with a harsh burn not present in the normal BORIS. It can only be from the whiskey barrels but the whole point of this process is to round any edges whilst adding to the whole flavour profile. This to me is as though they got BORIS and added neat whiskey to the bottle. Possibly the least balanced BBA IS I have tried and not a patch on BA DORIS which is one of the best.

A black beer, a beautiful head is medium and brown. Aroma has liquirice and some salt liquirice, black coffee, vanilla, sweetness, some riped fruits. Taste has salt liquirice, nice roastiness, coffee, hint of riped fruits, some vanilla in the end. Rich and balanced sweetness. Warming in the throat. Full bodied, pleasant and smooth to drink. The great beer, vanilla notes has added to the normal B.O.R.I.S.

Gold capped bottle in honour of rate #2000. I bought this a fair while ago and the bottle was already old. I was intrigued about what 6 years of additional ageing would do to the bottle. The results were very pleasing. Pours black with a tan head. Oily texture which slicks the insides of the glass. Aroma of booze and vanilla. Slightly savoury. Flavour is very smooth with an afterbite of booze. Warming roasty flavour with chocolate, vanilla, coffee & wood. Dry and boozy. Absolutely delicious. A perfect beer for the occasion seeing as Hopping Frog is apparently my top brewery and this is their top beer.

(On Tap) Black with thin tan head. Subtle aroma - vanilla, coffee, bourbon. Light bodied with plentiful carbonation. Plenty of whiskey flavour present in the taste. Excellent.

Bottle. Pours close to black, looking pitch black in the glass. A medium dark tanned head is produced. Complex aroma of roasted grains, coffee, tar, leathers, wood and hints of whiskey. A whiff of alcohol, hints of vanilla and chocolate. Nice flavors of malts, roasted and caramel, mild chocolate and smoke a a fair amount of bitterness as well. Some woody notes in the back, and a warming finish. Very well balanced and integrated flavors. Slick and full bodied, softly carbonated. A very pleasant sipper!

Aroma: roasted malt, vanilla, chocolate, coffee, licorice, barrel. Apperance: pours jet black, in condition of used engine oil; Tiny dark head. Taste: chocolate, coffee, roastiness; after good aftertaste that let you know about aging this beer in barrels. Palate: full body, oily, sticky, soft beer with quite nice bitterness. Overall: Very good imperial stout. Definitely worths its price.

I have had this bottle for a long time. I am pretty excited to try it! Pours a dark motor oil like color. Very thin head. Oh and gold cap on this bottle! Smells of oatmeal, some bourbon and some chocolate. Taste has a bunch of chocolate flavors with a smooth bourbon after taste. Slightly dry in the finish. Bit of an oatmeal cookie taste too! Delicious!

Ölföreningens julölsprovning 2014. Smak och doft av vanilj, choklad, kaffe, torkad frukt, bourbon och trä. Rund och len, välbalanserad, fina smaker, fin beska. Riktigt gott det här!

Draught, 2011 pitch black. 1 finger dense creamy head. Vanilla, coconut, coffee and fudge. Smells insanely sweet. This is ridiculously boozy. Alcohol for days and very sweet. Fudge, rye bread and a lot of vanilla. Just not a fantastic Impy

Draught @ Fermentoren. Pours pitch black with a deliciously looking creamy mocha head. Aroma is coffee, roasted malt, chocolate, bourbon and wood. Flavour is bittersweet, Full bodied, creamy and smooth texture, carbonation is on the soft side. Finish is chocolate, coffee and bourbon. Very smooth and unlike other impy’s, I actually like this one better when it’s colder than it should be
