UPDATED: JUL 15, 2010 @Pilsner Petes East Coast Gathering-22oz bottle–pours a rich light brown head that dissipates and black color. Aroma is dark malt-roasty/anise, woody, earthy. Taste is dark malt-roasty/anise/licorice, woody, earthy. I too enjoyed the original more. Thanks eyedrinkale for sharing.
*100715-thanks hbmason-from what Tim said is a 6+ month aged bottle-nice smoothing of the edges from the previous 2, plus some hop bite that on the other tastings that weren’t as smooth also. Nice carbonation level. 4.1

Bottle, bought @ Ølbutikken, Cph.
Enjoyed alongside the superior original (which was a 4.5).
Pours utterly black with a small, creamy, beige head. Sweet, vinious aroma with coffee, vanilla, oak and fat, lovely chocolate. Low carbonation, great dry and oily mouthfeel. Flavour is oaky, dry, vinious, vanilla, coffee. Masterful aftertaste with good dryness, bitterness, roasted and chocolate notes. Wonderful, but the aging detracts from the utter brilliance of the original. Overall, it gains some tartness and oak but looses the fantastic balance of BORIS. But still nice.
3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Christian (9697) - Odense, DENMARK - OCT 1, 2009
Black with a lasting brown head. Aroma of oak, tannin and licorice. Sweet licorice flavour with tannins and oak notes. Felt a bit like the oak was getting in the way of the delicious boris flavour. I’d rather have the original.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Maria (9570) - Thisted, DENMARK - JUN 11, 2010
Courtesy of After4ever, thanks Tom! It’s pitch black with a dark-brown, creamy head and the aroma has notes of roasted malt, oats, vanilla, wood, chocolate and dark fruits. The flavour is sweet with notes of raisin, vanilla, wood, hints of whisky, oats, chocolate and dark fruits. It’s very complex and nice, but to be honest, I prefer the normal B.O.R.I.S.

Bottle. Creamy off-white good mostly lasting head. Dark red-amber colour. Heavy malty and hoppy aroma. Heavy bitter flaor. Lods of vanilla.
Long wonderfull heavy bitter finish. Not that much whiskey present. Creamy palate.

Bomber from Charleston Beer Exchange. Pours black with a transient dark tan head. Aroma is bourbon over smmoth burnt malt. With medium chocolate. Med body. Very mild carbonation. Flavor is oh so bourbon with a touch of dark malt and chocolate. Extremely smooth.
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 bierkoning (8956) - La Tropica, NETHERLANDS - DEC 25, 2009
Bottle. Almost pitch black, quickly disappearing head. Oak, vanilla, molasses and dark chocolate in the aroma. Powerful sweet, yet deceptively drinkable beer with vanilla, chocolate, oak, caramel, hints of licorice and lots of dried plums. Full bodied, syrupy mouthfeel. Alcohol and tobacco showing up in the aftertaste. Low on carbon, but a quite delicious and complex beer indeed.
4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 madsberg (8819) - Søborg, DENMARK - SEP 18, 2009
Bottled. Pitch black coloured. Dense brown head. Aroma is roasted, sweet, chocolaty, spiced and some vague boubon vanilla notes. Chocolate, toffee, fruits, vanilla, wood, roasty, light coffee in the flavour. Very smooth and easy to drink. Full flavoured. Ends on a mild roasty, sweet and spiced note. alcohol is very well hidden. Bottled. Dark amber coloured. Unclear. Light brown head. Aroma of sourness, fruits, berries, light yeast.
Flavour is sour and citric. Loads of berries, light yeast. Medium to full bodied. Dry. Very sour and refreshing end. Quite grapish. Nice. Maybe not very polite to drink this right after the Mikkeller Weasel Islay version, but anyways it´s quite good.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Tmoney99 (8784) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - APR 19, 2009
Bottle shared at local BA gathering.
Poured a clear dark brown color with a minimal brown head that mostly diminished with virtually no lacing. Moderate to heavy roast coffee, chocolate, smoke wood and alcohol aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. Medium to heavy roasted bittersweet flavor with a medium to heavy bittersweet finish of moderate to long duration.
This is a standout smooth brew.
