Made from our award-winning imperial stout, rated one of the top 50 best beers in the world in 2008. This bodacious oatmeal Russian imperial stout will crush you like no other. Possibly a 2009 bottle found in a dark corner at work. Pour is pitch black with a quickly dissipating mocha head. Lots of bourbon and vanilla on the nose, there’s some oak and rich dark chocolate, toasty malt and caramel, and some faint dark fruit notes. Some velvety chocolate notes up front on the taste, lots of bourbon and vanilla, oak, coffee, toasted malt, and molasses. Awesomely balanced, great barrel characteristics that don’t suffocate the rest of the beer.

Bottle. Pours like used motor oil with thick creme colored head that lingers. Smells of chocolate and oatmeal with a hint of booziness. Coffee chocolate flavors I'm a smooth stout that is easy to enjoy. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle @ home. 2011 edition. Pours thick and almost black with red notes. A minimal brown head that quickly dissipates. Intense sweet & roasted with lots of vanilla, bourbon, honey, oak, dark chocolate, dates, raisins, red fruits. Big oily mouthfeel with a very soft low carbonated palate. Aftertaste is drier and has some nice licorice and leather plus some warming booze. And a plesant vinous note of red currants. High bitterness that blends well with the roast body.

Rated on 9-13-2011 Green cap bottle. This beer has a small light brown head with a very long retention, opaque dark brown body and very little lacing. The aroma is roasted malt, chocolate, coffee, wood, oak, vanilla, hops, and alcohol. The taste is semi-sweet, vanilla, oak, wood, chocolate, coffee, roasted malt, and a semi-dry finish. The mouthfeel is tingly carbonation and this beer is medium-full bodied. This beer is very quaffable and very flavorable. It is a good all around beer and a sipping beer. It is worth trying and a beer I would drink again.

22oz bottle. It pours a pitch black oily body with a small mocha head. Aroma is intensely roasty, sweet, bourbony, molasses, licorice, coffee. Taste is quite sweet, some roasted malts and licorice, but mostly vanilla, wood and bourbon. Slight booze, tobacco and leather. Nicely rounded. Mouthfeel is creamy, oily, thick with soft carbonation. Overall, a sipper and a bourbon bomb even at 2 years cellaring. Nice one tough.

Poured at tasting, black with small off white head. Aroma was bourbon oak, vanilla, licorice, and roasted malts. The bourbon taste mixed well with dark fruits, vanillas, oak, and a little booziness. The finish was deep and dark with a thicker finish. I got a little expresso late. Very nice.

22 oz bottle, served in a snifter next to the base. Pours oily black with a small tan head that fades to a thin remnant and leaves a small amount of fine lace. The nose has huge notes of vanilla, oak and whiskey, along with espresso, chocolate, molasses and subtle tobacco smoke. The flavour is moderately sweet with roasty malts, vanilla, oak and chocolate. Notes of espresso and tobacco are also present, but muted under the prominent barrel notes. On the palate it is full in body with a velvety smooth texture and soft carbonation. Overall this is a very nice, elegant imperial stout with impressive vanilla, oak and whiskey character. 2014-04-03

22 oz. bottle. Pours pitch black (not even a hint of color when held up to the light), with a medium, thick, tan head. Bitter chocolate, vanilla, oak, whiskey, coffee, and molasses. Very sweet, with a little burnt bitterness. Heavy body, sticky, syrupy, and sticky. A slightly warming finish. Overall, this is a thick, delicious stout. Great bourbon notes, with a good, chocolate and coffee backbone. Light bitterness that doesn’t distract too much. This is a tasty, and relatively approachable stout.

Bomber into a snifter to assist in snow shoveling. Black as night pour with minimal brown head. Aroma of rich dark chocolate, roasted malts, coffee grounds, and vanilla. Taste is similar with a hint of oak and whiskey. Super thick and coating.

UPDATED: APR 7, 2014 Thick, heavy looking beer, with little head. Dark roast dominates the aroma. Tastes just as it looks. Extremely strong, heavy, sticky, roast, sweet chocolate, and prominent alcohol. Very intense flavour. Very good, but unfortunately not a favourite as I was hoping.
