Made from our award-winning imperial stout, rated one of the top 50 best beers in the world in 2008. This bodacious oatmeal Russian imperial stout will crush you like no other. This is the grand-daddy of all stout styles, with an intensely deep roasted and full bodied flavor. A robust hop character adds a refreshing balance. Aged in Heaven Hill Whiskey barrels.

Smells like coffee, chocolate, whiskey and dark malt. Not as much whiskey in the nose as some beers. Pours out a almost pitch black color, head was about 1/2 inch very dark color, recedes into fine bubbles on the edge of the glass. Wow tastes really nicely balanced between the expresso coffee notes, chocolate, vanilla and bourbon. Really nice mouthfeel too. There is a nice alcohol warming but it isn't hot, which is great for the style. Overall a dn good bourbon stout that is rich, smooth and finely balanced. My first Hoppin' Frog and I'm quite impressed! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Black, sticky and chewy - small roasted head. Roasted, sweet and slightly hoppy aroma - whisky, banana, liqorice, coffee. Taste of liqorice, whisky, well roasted coffee, sweet brownie, vanilla, almond and some dark fruit. Well ballanced and pretty close to brilliant.

Chyba pierwsze RiS w którym aromat zrobił na mnie większe wrażenie niż smak. Feeria zapachów którą napędza beczka po Whiskey, da się wyczuć zapachy owoców suszonych: śliwki daktyle, słodycz. W smaku już nie jest tak potężnie. Czuć alkohol i niepoukładaność.

Bottle. Black with a small beige head. Roasted malt, molasses and chocolate in the nose, some wood and whiskey. The barrels are apparent in the flavour with whisky and vanilla, white wood. Lots of chocolate, some roasted malt, charcoal and molasses also. Full body, sticky texture, light prickling carbonation, heavy sweet and bitter, some alcohol showing. Roasted finish. Fair enough, but doesn’t do that much for me.

Bomber to snifter. Pours opaque with thin, rich-tan head with light retention. Aroma of maple, bright raisin, vanilla, hint of cinnamon, very pleasing. Medium-heavy body with oily mouthfeel, notes of creamy coffee, cinnamon spice, raisin/date, vanilla, and alcohol. Nice, but maybe more enjoyable on a winter night.

Bottle share at Paul’s 30th. Thanks to Strokey. Black, small foamy brown head. Aroma is liquorice, vanilla, light bourbon, chocolate, background cabbage. Body is medium, smooth, low carbonation. Taste is tangy alcohol, ashy, bourbon, coffee. Pretty nice.

Bottle. Thanks, KL. Supercharged chocolate nose, with very mild bourbon notes, and fumes. Dark brown, with translucent edges. Severe dark raost, bourbon, light vanilla, and mild bittering in mid and final. Medium body. Very very tasty, but perhaps a bit thin for an imperial. Great, really!

Bottle. Nose of bourbon, vanilla, chocolate, soy, coffee, berries. Big nose. Pitch black, oily, with lace. Rich, deep flavor, oats, grains, berries, raisins, wood. Silky and oily, but the most full body. Barrel works well, contributing bourbon but also woodiness. Very good, though not up there with the very best.

Approximately half of a 22 oz. bottle, consumed on 6-27-15. Pours a rich, dark brown with a small amount of sable head. Looks like melted chocolate. Scents of clay, banana bread, and raisin bagel. Rich, chocolatey, baked good, malty aroma. Boozy, bourbon taste. Roasted malt aftertaste. Rich, baked good taste. Raisin and oatmeal raisin cookie flavors. Vanilla. Very pleasant bourbon barrel aged imperial stout flavor. A bit old fashioned, the type of beer that would have been all the rage 5 to 10 years ago, but it reminds the imbiber why such beers were so popular for a time. Light to moderate alcohol burn in the palate. Full body. Smooth and silky in the palate. Overall, quite good. A few years ago I would have raved about this beer. Today, I enjoy it quite a bit, but it doesn’t blow me away.
