Made from our award-winning imperial stout, rated one of the top 50 best beers in the world in 2008. This bodacious oatmeal Russian imperial stout will crush you like no other. This is the grand-daddy of all stout styles, with an intensely deep roasted and full bodied flavor. A robust hop character adds a refreshing balance. Aged in Heaven Hill Whiskey barrels.

Smells like coffee, chocolate, whiskey and dark malt. Not as much whiskey in the nose as some beers. Pours out a almost pitch black color, head was about 1/2 inch very dark color, recedes into fine bubbles on the edge of the glass. Wow tastes really nicely balanced between the expresso coffee notes, chocolate, vanilla and bourbon. Really nice mouthfeel too. There is a nice alcohol warming but it isn't hot, which is great for the style. Overall a dn good bourbon stout that is rich, smooth and finely balanced. My first Hoppin' Frog and I'm quite impressed! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle from Vinmonopolet in Valkendorfsgate, Bergen. Pours a pitch black body with a large creamy, short-lived beige head. Nose is sweet malty caramel tones, vanilla, bubble gum, mild bourbon notes and hints of chocolate, licorice and roasted bread. Taste is licorice, bourbon, wood, chocolate, coffee, biscuits, burnt toast and hints of caramel, nuts and mild smoke. Full body, medium carbonation. Very nice and smooth, without being quite of the outstanding kind.

White cap. Black, small tan head with some retention. Aroma is a bit muted, some chocolate, some bourbon, hint of red fruit. Flavor is nice, velvet smooth, hints of chocolate, really bourbon heavy. Solid BA stout.

Black Cap 2010 Aroma chocolate, roasty, coffee, nuts, smoke, vanilla, woody, whiskey Appearance black, frothy, tan foam, brown foam, dissipates quickly Taste wood oak chocolate Palate full body, creamy, thick feel, Overall a really great beer but I’m finding out that I’m not a huge fan of a wood taste

Bottle to glass. Pours a thick pitch black color with a nice brown head. Aroma has a big barrel character, with lots of bourbon, vanilla, coconut, and a solid background of dark roasted malts. Same in the flavor, great roasted malts with the barrel shining through. Excellent imperial stout. Would love to try the BA DORIS!

Bottle from Deconinck, Vichte. Oily black, dark brown foam. Soft carbonation. Aroma of roasted malts, coffee, vanilla, marshmellow. Sweet with harsh bitter finish. Not the best stout in my opinion.

Wow...Dark black pour with about half a finger of carmel head. Raisin (and other dark fruits) on the nose. Similar in taste, which starts a bit thin but becomes full bodied by the middle of the tongue. Finishes nicely with smooth bourbon and vanilla. A little to sweet for me which drops the palate score but great beer and even better day!

Sugary booze nose. While cold, this beer is complex with its chocolate, booze and coconut. Super smooth, easy booze, lightly bitter, and definitely not too sweet. Very, very nice. Beautiful, opaque, vanilla, and has a touch of raisin with a faint bitter finish.

22 oz provided by Adrien. Vintage we think is 2013. The tan head with some lasting spotty lace. Aroma is bold Heaven Hill whiskey to boot!

The bourbon is pretty bold through out the sip. The body is for sure thinner then Doris. FYI, compare this right after the standard Doris and BBA Doris. This is a tad thinner in the mouth yet the flavor is still damn nice. Oak, vanilla, with light charred chocolate, and again with the mild brownie batter note. Gosh damn, another fine BBA RIS.
