4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 asteele8 (322) - Des Moines, Washington, USA - OCT 27, 2012Review #300! Bottle. Green Cap - 2009. Pours a thick dark black with a nice mocha head. Aroma is bourbon, oatmeal, chocolate, licorice, coffee, toffee, anise, vanilla, roasted malts and alcohol. Flavor is chocolate, vanilla, bourbon, roasted coffee, charred wood, molasses, and oatmeal. On the palate is rich, thick, medium to full bodied with slickness. It is lacking a little bit of carbonation but that is probably due to it being barrel aged and having some age. Overall an excellent and complex beer! Proud to enjoy it as #300!

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 StoutHead (228) - DENMARK - MAY 3, 2013
On tap @ Fermentoren. Pours pitch black with a minimal mocca head. Aroma of roasted malt and chocolate. Taste like the aroma plus coffee. It's sweet, but crucially - not TOO sweet. The barrel ageing gives it a tinny taste, but it works better here than it usually does. Very drinkable, but at the end of the day it's not /really/ remarkable. But good it is. :-)

Aroma is coffees. App+- Jet black pour. Thick! Tan head, short lasting but lacing remains. Taste-alcohol is present, chocolate coffee, toasted malt. Very nice and tasty. Bready taste comes late. Smooth feel with medium carbonation. Acidic after taste. Very nice beer. Thickest I think I’ve seen, except maybe Goose Island Big John.

Bottle at home from ØlKonsortiet. Pours pitch Black with a good Brown head. A whif if booze in the aroma, but dominated by roasted malts and coffee. Full bodied, long roasted aftertaste that leads to a bitter finish, excellent!

Raisins, toffee, prunes, anise, black licorice, maple syrup, and coffee in the aroma. Taste is chocolatey, espresso, prunes, toffee, plums, black licorice, anise, light vanilla, and caramel with a light bitter/chocolate finish. Syrupy/thick mouthfeel with soft carbonation. Awesome BA stout!
4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20 Star80 (11) - Illinois, USA - APR 20, 2013
Smells like coffee, chocolate, whiskey and dark malt. Not as much whiskey in the nose as some beers. Pours out a almost pitch black color, head was about 1/2 inch very dark color, recedes into fine bubbles on the edge of the glass. Wow tastes really nicely balanced between the expresso coffee notes, chocolate, vanilla and bourbon. Really nice mouthfeel too. There is a nice alcohol warming but it isn't hot, which is great for the style. Overall a dn good bourbon stout that is rich, smooth and finely balanced. My first Hoppin' Frog and I'm quite impressed!
