Made from our award-winning imperial stout, rated one of the top 50 best beers in the world in 2008. This bodacious oatmeal Russian imperial stout will crush you like no other. THis is the grand-daddy of all stout styles, with an intensely deep roasted and full bodied flavor. A robust hop character adds a refreshing balance. Aged in Heaven Hill Whiskey barrels, this is a bottle-only release with 86 cases of 22-oz bottles.

22oz bottle. Pours black as night with a tiny mocha head that dissipates quickly. Immediate aroma of bourbon with vanilla, dark fruit, and molasses. Flavor is very complex (anise, oak, bourbon, vanilla, molasses, dark fruit) and on the sweet side. Surprisingly smooth at first, but finishes with nice bourbon-alcohol bite. Syrupy mouthfeel with very light carbonation. Fantastic.

650mL bottle from DK tasted up against the barrel-aged version. Both were tasty, but the regular version was the winner of this tasting for me. Pours black with a small beige head. Aroma of whiskey, and chocolate. Body is oily, with less carbonation than the regular than the regular version with whiskey notes, coffee, liquorice, oak, vanilla and some mild smoke. Finish is not as lasting as regular version, and a bit more balanced out. Whiskey taste is not totally dominant, which makes this a nice beer.

Bottle, bought @ Ølbutikken, Cph.
Enjoyed alongside the superior original (which was a 4.5).
Pours utterly black with a small, creamy, beige head. Sweet, vinious aroma with coffee, vanilla, oak and fat, lovely chocolate. Low carbonation, great dry and oily mouthfeel. Flavour is oaky, dry, vinious, vanilla, coffee. Masterful aftertaste with good dryness, bitterness, roasted and chocolate notes. Wonderful, but the aging detracts from the utter brilliance of the original. Overall, it gains some tartness and oak but looses the fantastic balance of BORIS. But still nice.

Bottled @ home. Dark color, brown head. Aroma of chocolat malt, roasted, coffee, very nice whisky oaky tones. Big malty taste of chocolat and coffee, quite bitter. Fantastic stuff!

Location: 22 oz bottle, 1/29/10

Aroma: Some roasted malts, bourbon, oats, coffee, and bittersweet chocolate
Appearance: It’s a pitch black, tar-like beer with a thin, dark brown head
Flavor: Flavor is mostly dark chocolate and bourbon, dark malts, some bitterness as it ends
Palate: A medium-full bodied beer with a smooth creamy feel, low on carbonation, and some ABV burn
Overall Impression: Overall this beer is pretty solid, though the bourbon character is definitely very strong, it is not completely overpowering. This beer hold up well to the bourbon aging treatment.

si presenta simile alla versione base con l’aggiunta i note di whisky un po affumicato e legno

Bourbon aroma comes up immediately while pouring this dark concoction with a light kahki head. Coffee, tobacco and dark semisweet chocolate also contribute. Full bodied and oily with a slight dry cocoa powder finish. Chocolately flavor with a good dose of whiskey. Roated oatmeal, malts somewhat overpowered by the whiskey. Overall I’d prefer the regular version over this one

Boozy and molassis drip coming from the nose..with maybe a touch of vanilla, stale cardbnoard, and oatmeal...oh, and some underlying chocolate notes to boot. Pours dark brown with an orange-brown head. THick, sweet and chocolaty flavors..the bourbon influence is evident yet subdued. Clean, super malty with essences of bourbon...However, I think i like the regular version much better.
