Bottle, not sure which batch. Pours a deep black with a brown head. Rich aroma of malt and oatmeal, with dark chocolate, brown sugar, wood, and booze. Taste is rich and thick, of sweet brown sugar and malt, with sharper chocolate and wood, and a hint of booze. Lingering sweet woodiness that ends a bit light. Hides the alcohol well. Very tasty.

Bottle. Thanks, KL. Supercharged chocolate nose, with very mild bourbon notes, and fumes. Dark brown, with translucent edges. Severe dark raost, bourbon, light vanilla, and mild bittering in mid and final. Medium body. Very very tasty, but perhaps a bit thin for an imperial. Great, really!

Bottle. Nose of bourbon, vanilla, chocolate, soy, coffee, berries. Big nose. Pitch black, oily, with lace. Rich, deep flavor, oats, grains, berries, raisins, wood. Silky and oily, but the most full body. Barrel works well, contributing bourbon but also woodiness. Very good, though not up there with the very best.

Approximately half of a 22 oz. bottle, consumed on 6-27-15. Pours a rich, dark brown with a small amount of sable head. Looks like melted chocolate. Scents of clay, banana bread, and raisin bagel. Rich, chocolatey, baked good, malty aroma. Boozy, bourbon taste. Roasted malt aftertaste. Rich, baked good taste. Raisin and oatmeal raisin cookie flavors. Vanilla. Very pleasant bourbon barrel aged imperial stout flavor. A bit old fashioned, the type of beer that would have been all the rage 5 to 10 years ago, but it reminds the imbiber why such beers were so popular for a time. Light to moderate alcohol burn in the palate. Full body. Smooth and silky in the palate. Overall, quite good. A few years ago I would have raved about this beer. Today, I enjoy it quite a bit, but it doesn’t blow me away.

ebone1988 (344) - Taylor, Michigan, USA - JUN 27, 2015
Bottle shared with koleminer20. Aroma is bourbon barrel, roasted malt, coffee, chocolate, licorice, vanilla, dark fruit. Appearance is black, khaki head, poured thick. Taste is great, good balance between barrel and stout, great licorice, roasted malt, cocoa, coffee, good flavor. Mouthfeel is a bit light, light carbonation (close to flat), oily, decent. Overall, pretty good but a touch light.

22 oz bottle shared with ebone1988. The pour is jet black with a dark mocha colored head that falls to a tiny ring and no lacing. The aroma is beautiful. Strong booze and moderate whiskey roll through an incredible dark fruit. It’s not very complex, but it is good. The flavor is really nice. There is an incredible smoothness here. Great dark fruits and roasted malt. There is a touch of whiskey and a hint of vanilla. Again, this is one that isn’t complex at all. The mouth feel is a little light, and the carbonation takes a while to come in. Not sure if it’s bottle age related. The finish is lingeringly smooth and lightly fruity. This is one I was expecting more out of. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Black with a greenich brown head. No lacing. Aroma of malt, dried fruit and vanilla. Taste is coffe, licorine, wood, caramell with a short aftertaste ofcripe fruit. Not as hearthy as most oatmeal stouts. More refreshing.

Bottle shared thanks to Paul. Mahogany brown viscous pour with a thin tan. Atoms is woody bourbon, mint, caramel, mint, charred wood. Flavour is smooth, choccy, mint choc, bourbon woody, vanilla, candy sugars. Palate is full, sugary, moderate carbonation. Little dried fruit, vanilla choc lingers. Good.

Bottle from Saveur-Biere.com - Color: deep dark black beer with no carbonation and small brown head. Smell: good roasted malt domination, caramel and sugar cane notes. Coffee presence and finish as barrel and alcohol. Taste: good palate, very nice roasted malt and coffee. Nice sweet sensation from the Barrel Aged. Finish sweet and sugar. Not so strong alcohol finish. Aftertaste: caramel, sugar and coffee. Very nice palate, a must to try!

Clownoisseur (357) - Buchanan, Michigan, USA - JUN 11, 2015
Pours a pitch black with a one finger mocha colored head. Aromas give off light bourbon, wet oak, light anise, light roast, light earthy hops and some cocoa. Taste follows the nose but seems to have a deeper, richer cocoa/coffee note than expected. Rich and slightly velvety, this beer has a nice balance and a rounded barrel character. Nicely done.
