Bottle shared at 4th of July BBQ (Lyons, IL). Pours a rich deep blackish hue, opaque and dark with firmer brown dark head atop. Decent retention and stick around, mellow lacing overall. Aromas show some firmer sweetness, caramel and cocoa meet with vanilla, fudge and gentle espresso elements hitting the palate. Some cake elements, gentle roast and char come in but a bit light. Initial is firmer bodied, a bit sweet overall with fudge, caramel and toffee giving some depth, body. Touches of spirit are warm, vanillin and whiskey meet with sweet malt elements really making this a rich, sticky experience. Even with barrel time, this has held up a bit too much. Backend is a waft of dark fruit, roast and toast elements come in a bit more. Touch of whiskey and tannic oak, sweetness and stickiness still hangs on a bit. Full of flavor and a bit big overall, the spirit and barrel is still pretty firm though indicating more barrel time wouldn’t have helped. Some sweetness, oak hang on as we finish. Pretty solid stuff.

Bottle from a trade with OntBeerTaster. Opened this quite happily to celebrate the birth of my second son. Pours an absolute midnight black, half finger of khaki head, some tiny lace spots. Nose is a heavenly bourbon aroma, roasted malts, chocolate, coffee, toffee, sugar. Tastes sweet, bitter, coffee, vanilla. Super well balanced. A treat.

Velvety dark oily black thin head fairly weak nose. Just a touch of tar, cigar and brownies. Nice taste. Quite toasty. Some chocolate cookies and vanilla and table sugar. Sweet finish. Roast is throughout and sticks around long after finishing still, lacking quite a bit

22 oz. bottle. It pours black with a nice dense brown head. The aroma is sweet and candy like with lots of bourbon, marshmallows, vanilla and chocolate. The flavor has some dense chocolaty malts with some mild hints of dark fruit and significant bourbon notes, but reasonably balanced with the rest of the beer. The body is very thick and rich. The finish has very strong roasted malt, smores and burnt toast. Very nice stuff.

Black pour with not much head. Aroma of freshly emptied whiskey barrels, chocolate fudge, vanilla, and wood. Taste is beautifully sweet bourbon, chocolate, vanilla, tobacco, wood, and roast. This is how a barrel aged stout should taste.

Bottle kindly shared by Kermis at the CMLSG14 cellar tasting. Intense beer! Powerful aroma of vanilla and cocoa. Lots of roastiness in the body and the taste which make it a real degustation beer to be shared with others. Heavy body.

Bottle as shown thanks to George. Pours a dark brown with thick creamy tan head that lasts leaving sticky lacing. The aroma is strong bourbon, oak, chocolate. Medium mouthfeel with nice rich chocolate, light oak, with nice smooth finish. Really enjoyed this one.
